Rob Bob English is not everyone’s first language. We don’t need to master it. She is bi- lingual or probably a tri- lingual or a polyglot. This is because she seems to be Indian and I am too. We know our regional tongue, Hindi, English and also learn French at school. Better take a good look at yourself before you insult someone who can speak multiple languages with a baseless argument. She was just thanking someone and perhaps even made Alexa’s day. There’s no need to be so disrespectful.

My understanding of the difference between "Que" and "Quel/Quelle". As she pointed out in "Quel/Quelle" there is a matter of choice. Que: what- Que voyez-vous? = Qu'est-ce que vous voyez? What are you seeing? Qu'est-ce que vous mangez? What are you eating? Quel/Quelle: Which- Quel est ton jour prefere? Which one (what) is your favorite day? Quelle heure est-il? what time is it?

Why there are so many forms for "what"? Not like the other question words
@isabellehayes95204 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong on this, but it seems that "what" is referring directly to the noun and thus can be grouped into the same category of words as "the" (le, la, les) or "my" (mon, ma, mes) or any other pronoun/article (their, your, etc.). The other question words seem to rather qualify some verb; even when asking how much something costs (combien ça coûte?) you're being asked to describe or qualify the way that thing is behaving (in this case, describing the way it costs) and not describing that thing directly. Since verbs don't have gender or number like nouns, there is only one form of those question words. Because "quel" is referring directly to the noun, it has to agree with the noun with regards to its gender and number. You say "la pomme" because pomme (apple) is a feminine noun so you would not use "le". For the plural, you say "les pommes" because you are referring to more than one apple. Quel follows similar rules as le/la/les. (It better follows the rules of the word "they" which is il/elle/ils/elles. When referring to a man, you'd say "il" (he), and a group of men is "ils" (they). A woman is "elle" (she) and a group of women is "elles" (they). When there is a mixed group of men and women, you say the masculine form of they, "ils". Hopefully you can see where "quel" fits into this.) I hope this was helpful, I don't know the proper terminology (like articles or clauses or whatever) but hopefully, you could understand what I was trying to say. If anybody can point out errors, let me know :)
@SuntzuDragon8 жыл бұрын
Although this is unrelated, I do have one question. When should you use the "on" (one) form vs the "nous" (we,us) form? It seems like the French use them interchangeably to say "we", so is there a method to decide which one to use, or are they interchangeable? Could any french speakers please answer, Je suis très confus!

But somehow it sort of follows a pattern. Usually feminine words end with "e" in french, or if you wanna turn something feminine you change the end of the words, and they also seem to follow patterns, like "chanteur/chanteuse", "vendeur/vendeuse", "cher/chère", "portier/portière", etc :)

Madam, I have a doubt. IF we have to speak in French then we should know how to write the words correctly Because, when we know that a particular Noun is ending with E or Ion or any consonant, than only we can decide whether it is feminine or masculine. But in French, the words are different while writing and pronouncing, so what can we do to be perfect in recognizing the Word ?? Please do tell. Thank you for reading this message.
