We can all cover Eruption but we'll never sound like EVH. In fact, not even He himself played it again like the version that came on the first vinyl album titled Van Halen, in 78. I'm 60 years old and 40 years decoding the guitar, and never will be able to play exactly thensame way He played on the Record. I can copy it or improvise it, but not has it was recorded, witch is the version i like. It was an improvisation while He warmed up his fingers and the producer decided to record the track. without EVH knowing. Even so, I have great respect and congratulate all the guitarists who have managed to play Eruption. Good work Karl for you amazing video. 🙏🙏🤘🤘🤘

Actually a really good eruption lesson, the section after the A G D chords sounds spot on. FYI Eddie played the first legato lick by picking open high E then hammering onto the B at the 8th fret , pull off to 5 on the B then pick the G at the 8th fret. He didnt pick the B string at all. He used the same lick in many VH solos.

While I do believe that Eruption is actually a way more easier piece than people portray it to be, I am always up for Van Halen with Karl! Always a treat indeed!

RC32 I know what you mean it’s actually very pentatonic based but two really tricky sections to get up to speed if done right are the fast picked section and the open string section. Throwing me at the moment but I did force myself to try and learn it in one day. Got it down half speed but just needed a few more days with guitar. Will do an update video when got it nailed. Thought it would be fun to do a video lesson while it’s all fresh in my mind with all the tricky bits 🤘🤘

Yeah I leant it maybe 5-6 years ago! But didn’t learn it right! Still haven’t got it up to speed but thought it would be fun to do a lesson while I’m learning it for you guys 🤘🎸🔥 Had to Re-upload my Cover a few years back as had a hole in my trousers so you could see my underwear! 😂😂😂
