Laughed when you said there's always next year unless we die 😂 Don't take this too seriously! I think all of us are after the perfect planner that makes our brains make sense and there's no shame in trying stuff out. You're learning ❤

Ok, so I don't comment often, but I feel this so much! I started in Highschool with a cheap planner which worked well, then switched to bullet journaling, actually accomplished a year and a half but than it fell apart because i couldn't find the energy to draw every system myself anymore, even tho it was a lot of fun. This Year I started with the small Take A Note Planner, which worked like three months. It really is fustrating, when you love the idea and the feeling of using a planner and then not keeping up with it and you don't exactly know why. In the enthusiasm of the new planner launches now I decided I will DIY again, but not to the extend of Bullet Journaling. I bought pdf Planner designs inspired by hobonichi, print them on nice paper an use an a5 ringbook, where i can have everything in one place: monthly, weekly and daily behind each other and not separated and also undated pages - If i miss days or weeks it will no longer shame me to see blank pages because there are none. There I have the feeling of crafting and planning without pressure. Let's see how long I will stick with it, but it makes me happy now and that's what matters to me at the moment :) I hope you find and stick to a system without effort and thank you for showing this side of the planning community!❤

You’re refreshing and I appreciate you sharing your honest planner journey :) 2024 I thought cousin was going to be the motivation I needed to keep up with art journal/ daily. I have some fun memories in it but def a lot of empty pages in it. It is too big for me to want to carry with me. I bought the same beautiful weeks you have, started to get bored a few months in and bought a mega sneaker weeks ( what sense does that make?!) and never used it after adding some stickers in/on it. Bought an A6 to carry along with new cover. Stopped using the a6 after about a month and headed back to the original weeks! Sooo here are 2025 plans- maybe the trick is a firm cover? So A6 HON and Snake toy mega weeks are the 2 personals I will attempt to keep up to date in for 2025. My personals have to be Hobonichi for me. The classic Happy Planner is work only- it doesn’t need to have special paper to crinkle and be beautiful after watercolors and fountain pen ink. Work just needs to be big and sturdy. Good luck to us both! Btw, the not wasting of the beautiful planner on 4 months left.. I totally get it. It’s not crazy it’s just the way our brains are wired I guess ❤

I feel like we’ve shared a lot of the same struggles this year. Thank you for sharing your journey and plans for next year. Hopefully 2025 will be better!

I solved the flipping issue between more than 2 sections in my weeks and HON by using a simple Oli clip to clip say the weekly section and the blank pages together or the monthly’s and weeklies together.

That’s a great idea! I might try that with a Midori clip. Thank you for the tip!

I'm very indecisive. I am trying many sizes right now. I write the same thing every day in each notebook. Very frustrating. I love how others journals look, so I try that one. I don't like mine. Currently, I am trying a B6 cafe notes. I love the size. I need to find a pen that works well.

I understand the frustration 🥲but it’s great that you’re experimenting. I hope you find all the things you love soon!

I’m gonna use old dated Hobonichi and use it as my night journal and an everyday carry. And then grab a usual blank notebook. I literally just memory keep and daily diary write. And loosely keep track of appointments. Worst case I cover the old dates too. I have to bounce between books, but I usually go through them 3-6 months, but I make sure I use at least half of it. I’m only using a Hobonichi now so I can be more insistent, if I don’t write in one book, I’ll write somewhere at least. Appreciate the honesty. Getting my 24 Hobonichi to use in 25. Gonna washi tape it like crazy.

I'm the same - I get so inspired with the beautiful planners, and I start off strong, and then *I* happen.... LOL I've learned to stop buying dated planners, that way I can pick up where I last stopped using them. It makes me feel a little better, lol

I got that exact a6 hon cover, and also barely used it because I was afraid of messing it up. Sometimes my brain even wants me to purchase another one that I can save until I’m ready to use it ‘perfectly’ in the future. So silly lol
@Yes.ButAlsoNo4 ай бұрын
I totally understand that feeling. Our brains can be so tricky making us wait for that ‘perfect’ moment. Maybe we should keep Hobonichi’s saying in mind: Life is present

Love your cat! Really appreciate your honesty - planners and me have a love/hate relationship. Uh, maybe more hate than love.

I want you to please forget all this. This is better if you go to a bullet journal. Start with a month, and do a weekly and a diary together. I have been conscistent this way.
@Yes.ButAlsoNo4 ай бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion, I actually used to bullet journal for many years but always struggled with consistency. One year, I went through five different notebooks thinking the problem was the notebook (which of course wasn’t). Only when I went back to the A6 Original I’d bought in 2020 but barely used things started to work. Since then, I've stuck with Hobonichi, and it’s worked much better for me. The main problem this year was trying to change too many things at once 🥲

Honestly, the best thing I've ever done for myself was cutting planner hopping in the bud. Like yeah, I buy a journal, a work planner and a personal one each year, but I refuse to switch my catch-all EDC during the year. I can try different layouts in the back pages, I can make plans for next year's planners, I can change the cover, but I am bot allowed to hop out of it. And guess what, that just makes it work, because I have no other option. 🤷🏼♀️ I'm trying sg new in 2025 because life is constantly changing anyway, and I got a backup Weeks in case the new system is a giant fail. But even then, I can use one or the other as a journal or for work, and I still haven't bought more than the 3 I am allowed. And then there's next year to try sg else. Unless we die. 😂
@Yes.ButAlsoNo4 ай бұрын
I like how you’re setting boundaries for that. Sometimes you need to force yourself to stick with something to learn how to make it work for you... unless you’re really unlucky and it’s just completely wrong for you lol. I also like how you have a backup Weeks, that's pretty smart! If nothing works, you at least have somewhere to run.
