Ah, I wish this was an hour long, not just 4 minutes...it’s such a rare opportunity for ‚normal people‘ to be able to look at and learn about what goes into the making of a haute couture garment. Please make more of these videos with close up looks and detailed explanations 🙏

This should be an entire series or at least a documentary. Invaluable to those interested in fashion, becoming designers or, even home sewers. Consider it.

I wish this was longer . Balenciaga is my favourite fashion brand and it’s history and story is really unique. Cristobal was hailed by other big designers for his work . And I’m also obsessed with Demna he is a blessing for balenciaga

I was fortunate to see these creations last fall exhibited at the V&A. It was a fantastic experience and I spent most of the day there. The red gown and floral embroidered dresses were particularly memorable. Even his pattern drafting tools were on display and it’s a good reminder that these works of art were truly created by hand by masters of their art. Thank you for posting this video with even more insight.

Okay but if there's one thing I've picked up is that you should use paper measures, like those you get at Ikea, because they don't stretch like plastic ones do, they don't accumulate oils from your hands, and you can write directly on them, or even cut into them if you so wanted. The lady at the 1:50 mark was using one, but I was rather surprised to see that most of the other weren't using them.

While in design school, I had professors that would beat traditional technique in me verbally. Those techniques simply would not work for me and what I was trying to design. I understood the "foundation", however in trying to drape something off grain that made the design come to life was a NO-NO in their eyes. I later met another professor who said to me if you have to throw the grain off in order to achieve your design, then so be it. Fudy Duddy professors should know better

This is important. Many designers don't know the rules of tailoring before breaking them. Virgil Abloh is a great example. Same goes with dressing and most other things to learn.

Any chance the modern pattern pieces will be made available to home sewers via a pattern manufacturer?

In the early 80's, one of my homes was destroyed by fire, a 60's House of Balenciaga gold and cream brocade floor length gown with matching coat was destroyed,,, I wonder if they may have pictures of it, as I do not anymore,, insurance is small comfort losing something like that...
