I like the water shot starting at :37. The buildings to the right, bright in the sun, contrasted with the gradually deepening darkness of the water as you move your focus to the left. My next favorite water shot starts at :46, the two people in the kayak placed in an oval frame of shadow. You use sunlight and shadow very well in the view of the tower in the light and every else (almost everything else, except for the roof line...very nice touch) in shadow. Next, the two men walking down the street toward the light at the end of it. The view of the church at 1:15 is stunning, with or without shade and light. The contrast with the modern buildings showcases it. There are so many similar scenes in this old Hanse town, the birthplace of Thomas Mann, my favorite author.

For a long time I had the idea of learning french. (A somewhat obvious choice when living in south-west Germany.) Some KZbinrs gave me additional inspiration and in January I started for real. Signed up to an online course and started to learn a new language at age 46. French is not easy, albeit being fluent at English helps a lot with the vocabulary. Jacob, given my own experience with learning french I now can relate to your struggles learning German. It gave me an other level of respect for migrants like you, that have to go through this stressful experience. Yet, I enjoy to learn, extend my horizon and put my new skill to work like those kids.

Thank you for visiting Schleswig-Holstein my home state (Bundesland)❤️. Way to often it is overlooked by foreign tourists because it’s not as „charming“ (landscape wise) as southern Germany. No one is interested in northern Germany and everyone only wants to see Bavaria, but Germany is more than Bavaria. The old architecture in the cities around the Baltic Sea is different from southern Germany but still very beautiful in my opinion. I wish more people would recognize it.🙂

Germany has a decentralised structure. Meaning there are cities which are great to life in all over the country and if you want to pick one to settle, it very much depends on what you intend to do and what your expectations are.

@Margret Blaswich Natürlich - NICHT! grins Ich war, glaube ich zum ersten Mal auf Klassenausflug Grundschule dort. Kann mich noch an die Folterkammer im Holstentor erinnern. Aber nur dunkel, ist über 50 J. her. Jetzt soll wohl dje ges. Innenstadt zur Fußgängerzone werden. Gemischte Gefühle. Wenn ROCKY HORROR SHOW wieder anläuft werden wir dann am anderen Trave-Ufer parken und zu Fuß zum Theather gehen müssen. Das Problem ist nicht der Weg als solches. Wir müssen dann aber in Vollkostüm durch die Menschen, die keine Ahnung haben, warum wir so verkleidet sind! Lach! Und wenn's regnet wird's doof. Na, erstmal müssen sie wieder spielen.

@@tasminoben686 ja, die Folterkammer war beeindruckend, besser ausgestattet als in manch einem Schloss oder einer Burg. War das erste mal mit der Unterstufe Handelsschule da. In der Nähe ist doch ein Fluss oder Kanal, an seinem Ufer eine urige Kneipe nach der Anderen. Wir in jede Kneipe, ein Bier, ab in die Nächste. Da haben wir Torfrock kennen- und liebengelernt 😉 Das Problem hatten wir auch in Essen. Ein Alptraum aus Einbahnstraßen. Dann noch ein netter Fußweg bis zum Theater. Aber...keinen hat's gejuckt. Und in Köln ist eh immer Karneval, da fällt man echt nicht auf. Bin mal im ICE mit nee Gruppe Zombies gefahren. War auch unterhaltsam. In Düsseldorf treffen sich an jedem ersten Samstag die Mangafans im Nordpark. Und natürlich noch mehr, wenn Japan-Tag ist. Wenn man seltsam gewandet unterwegs ist, ist hier die richtige Region. Da triffst du schon mal Ritter, Elfen oder Zwerge, die zu einem LARP unterwegs sind 😀

@Margret Blaswich Das ist die TRAVE, mündet bei TRAVEMÜNDE in die Ostsee. Ja, da gibt's viele Kneipen. Man kann da auch gut mal ein Pfeifchen durchziehen. Apropos Essen: In Lübeck waren wir vor 3 J. in der Vorstellung von HERBERT KNEBEL. Und dort waren wir auch zum ersten Mal in der Vorstellung von T. STRÄTER.
