Nice to see someone visit northern Germany. (I'm tired of all those Bavarian videos ;-) There has always been a "brick-making-industry" in this part of Europe. They have it not only in Germany, but also in the other countries around the Baltic Sea due to the geological ressources. The historical building style has got a name: nordische Backsteingotik - in a word-by-word translation: northern brick gothic. You will find it everywhere in this area of Europe. One of the most beautiful cities with this building style is Lüneburg.

I agree, everything is Munich and Berlin which to me as a German grew up as those being other countries. I grew up in the North and we still refer to Bavaria as such instead of Germany. I have never been to Berlin because as a child it was East Germany and we could not enter.

Brick buildings everywhere in the north :) Even some of the streets are brick. Reason being that historically there was a lack of stone to quarry. This extends further east into northern Poland and the Baltic states. Look up "Malbork Castle" for example

Nice to see you're visit some northern places. Would like to see that you continue it. There are a lot of interesting places near Hildesheim. I just quote a viewer from 3 weeks ago: "As you seen to enjoy your time in Niedersachsen, I would like to point out some things to do and places to visit while you are in Hildesheim. Hannover has a bunch of upcoming festivals (Schützenfest, Maschseefest, Events in the Herrenhäuser Gardens), then there is the Steinhuder Meer (a big sea) nearby, you have the Harz mountains (highly recommend Goslar and Quendlinburg), a trip to the Lüneburger Heide might show you nature you have never seen before and the Gedenkstätte Bergen-Belsen (former KZ camp, very depressing though), Braunschweig is a must visit (a lot to see, great festivals, too), Gifhornˋs Mühlenmuseeum is quite unique (go there on a Sunday morning, go hungry), in Wolfsburg visit the Autostadt and take a VW production tour, and then there is Helmstedt with the former border crossing Marienberg and the border Museum in Helmstedt. You might also like to visiting the Cathedrel in Königslutter and the museum of mechanicalmusial instruments. Wolfenbüttel (hometown of Jägermeister) also has some unique things to see/visit." Keep on the good content!

Lübeck is the town in which one of Germany's most famous novelists Thomas Mann's most famous novel "Buddenbrooks" is set in. It describes the downfall of a once successful merchants family at a time when Lübeck was still a rich and thriving trading city of the Hanseatic League due to its location by the sea. The author himself actually stems from an old Lübeck merchants family, but went on to establish a dynasty of novelists and authors.

As so many said before, it's so nice to see you exploring the flat north :). I have done kayaking courses and tours on both the Baltic and North Sea, and always find it an incredible experience to see how different they are, although they are just divided by this narrow stretch of land in Germany. The North Sea coast on the west has extreme tides, and in general is windier and has rougher weather, while the Baltic Sea has almost no tidal difference and on some days looks like a giant lake. In fact, you can drive around it. My husband and I have explored a lot of the Baltic in recent years. A couple of years ago, we did an epic trip from Berlin eastwards to Gdansk, into the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad (you need a visa for that), through all the Baltic States and then we crossed over from Tallinn to Helsinki by ferry, came through Finland, Sweden, Norway, and took a ferry back to Germany. To me, who grew up in divided Berlin it was an incredibly emotional trip. The fact that I can just hop into my car and drive east without impediment, whereas thirty years ago even visiting my grandma in East Germany was a pain... incredible.

I haven’t been really exposed to it on that level so had no idea what to expect, but it wasn’t bad at all! I’m still a nougat fan though in comparison to marzipan as the store also had nougat! 😅😅

@@PuntingForThePeople Perhaps you should try the "Mozartkugel" (Reber fabr.) some day. Its core is nougat and the nougat is surrounded by pistachio marzipan and the whole thing by a mantle of dark chocolate. O heiliger Wolfgang Amadeus .... :) Viele Grüße aus Mittelfranken!

Dear Jacob, ( *without any real complaints from my side!* ) I'd like to recommend you being a little more ... ... ... careful... with your new toy poking around. Especially when ladies are around you closely, taking this thing down below knee-hight may rapidly become ... precarious... ,if you kow what I mean. ... Skirts and so on. Not every lady might like this. And you may unintendedly get into some trouble if you aren't careful with this. Someone could falsely misinterpret your true intentions playing around with this stick.👀🤞😎🤢

😂😂😂 we actually made jokes about that scenario for about 5-10 minutes after that scene was shot 😂😂 but yes, very careful, the last thing I want to do is end up in international jail and then try to label me as a “Predator tourist” or something 😂😂
