1) This is such a struggle for me, like I even use a different word for only than you do! I use “เท่านั้น” and I just learned แค่ about a week ago, so I’m not used to using it yet. I didn’t even know the other ones you’ve used! 2) Almost all the people that I speak Thai with online are either in Thailand or the Philippines, and since I’m from the US it’s literally a 12 hour difference ;-;. I’ve made a very bad habit this quarantine to stay up till 4:00 am talking to Thai people Bc I’m that addicted to it! I’ve gotten much more disciplined with my sleep schedule (thank the lord), but it took some work and self control 😅 I have a few friend throughout the us and Canada tho that I can practice Thai with, but it can be a struggle. 3) There is such a lack of recourses in comparison to other languages! But for me, since this is my first language I’m super serious about, I still think there are sooo many recourses to learn Thai. You just have to look for them and be creative where you look. Having said that, it is frustrating that often I have a specific question and it feels impossible to find the answer on the internet. The only way I can get it answered is from a native Thai person. Like I remember I wanted to know the difference between ที่ and ใน, and boy was it a struggle to try to understand the difference 😭 4) Is it bad that I just always use ได้ after the verb instead of before?? This aspect confuses me a bit so I made a habit to just use it after LOL. I learned this very early on, but now you’re reminding me that I need to start using it more and stop avoiding it haha. 5) True life I’m addicted to Thai. I spend, literally, hours every day on practicing. Honestly a big chunk of that is trying to meet new friends online, I’m addicted to talking to people in Thailand. And my family gets SO ANNOYED WITH ME LOLOLOLOL.

oh wow you are doing well learning Thai and having many Thai friends to help you out. I do have people that i can practice Thai with but my family are living in Thailand and its 5 hours difference. since most of them workin at different time and one of them is still studying its a bit difficult to choose the right time to contact them. my dad lives somewhere where the connection isnt that stable especially when he goes hunting there is not connection in the mountain Thai is quite complex, so it takes time to understand how to use them correctly.

Due to multiple words meaning the same thing my notebook is so messy in parts where I've had to add additional words to the same meaning so that I can try and remember them in the future. wow 12 hours...and here was me thinking my time difference was bad 5555 I think because I learnt Chinese first I've been very spoilt when it comes to resources, I was trying to find the Thai word for "case" (as in to be on someones case, not a legal case or a literal suitcase) and the dictionary app I have had 0 explanations for the word so I had to wait to check it with my teacher 😂 ได้ makes me laugh though because even today I was speaking with a friend and every time I used it I paused as I waited to see if I was right or wrong 😂 😂 😂 Our addiction keeps us motivated though! Soon my family will be speaking Thai too 555

Hi Victoria. I absolutely agree with you. The Thai language is very addictive. Even at my job, other people have become addicted to Thai pop because I listen to it all the time. If I'm not watching anything, I turn on some Thai programs on YT, usually something from Thai PBS. On all the mirrors and tiles there are some inscriptions in Thai, the alphabet, directions, hours, names of months, fruits, vegetables. Thai is all around me. It's probably an addiction...🌺

Hey Karolina, I love that you've got others addicted to Thai! It is such a great language. It is insane how quickly Thai can consume you, I love it though - wouldn't change it for the world 55555 Thank you for watching and commenting 💜💜

I highly recommend the printable notes to anyone. They are amazing. Thank you so much to taking your time to making it. I struggle with the vowels. I only just started to learn Thai but I learnt 9 consonant and I learnt what it feels like tones of vowels. I also struggle to find a partner to study Thai. I live in Ireland so it’s difficult for me to find someone within my time zone.

Thank you so much, I'm really pleased to know that you're enjoying them and finding them useful. I am planning to make different notes but finding the time has been hard! For finding a language partner in your time zone, one thing that may help is if you use a free trial for a premium membership of something like Tandem and Hello Talk, you can then set your search criteria to your area or Europe. Then find partners during the free trial and hopefully be able to set up a lot of learning opportunities. Good luck with your studies!

im in your time zone from England, ive been learning for 8 months ish, although in 2019 i lived in Thailand for nearly a year so i learned numbers and basic phrases but i was mainly around tourist, i wouldn't mind practicing together, i have a Thai girlfriend of nearly 2 years so it has helped me, but every day i talk to thai people on games and omegle but the conversations are always similar, I can read and write and can have a general conversation about any topic on the surface so i wouldn't mind helping you out and also practicing conversations and scenarios of different topics. i am trying to seriously increase my thai speaking in the next 2 weeks as that's the date i start my Thai vlogging channel only in Thai language so i need to put 100% into it 555 i am extremely obsesively passionate about Thailand and the language i live it 24/7 so get in contact!

Hey I'm sure you'll be fluent in no time especially with a Thai girlfriend! That's very cool that you're going to start a Thai vlogging channel, can't wait to check that out. Thank you for offering to practice with me, I can't do it at the moment but once my schedule frees up a bit more I will 100% get in contact! It will be great to practice with someone in the same timezone 555

yeah the multiple words that has a meaning that is alike can be quite difficult since it depends on the sentences that you are forming. but then again i'm not good at my own language 555. Usually you get a chance on having a conversation with Thai people when there are some thing like thai festivals. i'm not sure if they have it over there where you live but over here they used to have it. with the virus going around ofc there isn't any now. also for more challenge how about asking your Thai friend sending you some Thai books that they can get you. I remember when i just moved to Europe my homeroom teacher from Thailand at that time send me text books for me to read. oh btw have you watch the thai movie called ''I FINE..THANK YOU.. LOVE YOU'' ??? i really love that one XD
@VictoriaReign3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure there must be Thai festivals where I am but I just haven't ever checked....that shall go to the top of my to-do list for when covid goes. Great minds - I have just asked my Thai friend to send me reading materials and she is going to help me with this 🙏 I've not seen that movie but I'm going to add it to my watchlist - thank you!

I'd offer to be your Thai language speaking partner, but I'm just starting out with Thai. I'm only one hour ahead of you, too, as I live in Sweden. (GMT+1) I'm currently attending a 'learn to read and write' online Thai course, and I'm starting an online conversation course in the first week of March. 😛

Welcome to the club and thank you! Maybe in the future we could arrange a group session with a few others who watch my vids because there seem to be a few of us from different countries all in the same boat 555 Good luck with your course, let us know how it goes!

@@VictoriaReign That would be amazing, once I can actually have a conversation. 😂🙈 But I'm having four online classes a week throughout March, and possibly three per week in April, too. I should hopefully get comfortable with basic conversations sooner rather than later. Oh, I bought your language learning planner on Etsy, and I really like it, but I'm missing a page for vocabulary. You have pages for nouns, adverbs, verbs etc, but there isn't one for general vocabulary. There's quite a bit of vocab that doesn't fit into the specialised vocabulary pages. 😊 I just thought I'd share my thoughts since you said you might make more designs later.
@VictoriaReign3 жыл бұрын
@@joannawentworth9519 wow that sounds intense, but it will be so worth it once you're finished! Thank you for buying and the feedback! That is a very good point, I was using the general pages towards the end of it for other vocab but on reflection I agree with you, I think having it like the specialised vocab would flow a lot better. Thank you again!!
@joannawentworth95193 жыл бұрын
@@VictoriaReign Thank you for sending the updated file! 😊 I printed a few of the new vocabulary pages so I can prepare for my classes next week. The pages look great! Ah, yes. It's gonna be intense, but I found a school in Thailand that does online classes three times a week. It's ridiculously early in the morning, but I guess I'll manage. 😂

i think my biggest problem with thai is spelling😭since im used to writing in korean which is super simple, writing and reading thai is way too hard for me as a beginner, so i decided to just focus on speaking for now 🤧
@VictoriaReign2 жыл бұрын
I agree, spelling is very hard! Especially because some letters sound the exact same/very similar but with practice it gets easier. I think it is good to focus on speaking first, in my opinion that is the most important skill - writing will come 😃

English is terrible for having multiple words for the same thing and that is not even counting common slang words! Hopefully with more people learning Thai, we will get more stuff that we can use 5555 Thank you!

I can add you the 6th, different meaning of pronoun in different situation (not just polite level or gender and yes I mean exactly same sentense). For example เขา(เค้า) can be he or I แก can be you or he/she เธอ can be you or she ตัวเอง can be I or you you can confirm this with your thai friend.
@VictoriaReign3 жыл бұрын
That is such a good point! I found knowing who someone is referring to very hard at first (less so now but I still get stuck sometimes) because pronouns can change and some people will even use multiple pronouns within the same conversations 5555
