In this video, I share my practice session for lesson 7 of learning the banjo!
I highly recommend Jim Pankey's Channel for anyone else who is learning to play the banjo:

If you have ever wanted to learn how to play the banjo, then you and I have something in common! Recently I finally made the decision to purchase my very first banjo and am looking forward to learning to play through KZbin tutorials. If you are interested in following my journey, please subscribe and stay tuned for weekly updates!

I’m at the same point as you, though I already can play clawhammer. You’re doing really well. My only suggestion would be to allow yourself a bit longer between lessons. You’ll be amazed how smoothly you play a lesson if you practice it for four days or a week. I like to move quickly, as well, but for me it usually leads to frustration. When I go slowly the rolls start becoming second nature. Good luck to you. I’ll be interested to see your progress.

Thanks Marc! Slowing down has definitely been challenging for me in the beginning just because its less fun. Since this video I have forced myself to slow down and focus on building good muscle memory and proper technique. I have my one month progress video filmed now and will have it ready to upload soon!

@@asimplekindalife8526 it’s challenging to go slow for me, too. I like to read the last page first. 😜 But when I move on to the next lesson I definitely feel ready for it. If I jump the gun then I find myself struggling with the “old stuff.” When Jim says “You know this,” it’s true, because I really do. I don’t like being a “beginner,” but you have to start somewhere. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos.
