Gonna stick to one armers, front levers, and swinging around on a ring with one hand while bouncing an exercise ball rather than waste any more time with this whole climbing thing.

It would be very nice to see a fingerboard plan, maybe one for power and one for endurance. Thanks guys ✌🏻

Damn, I wasted my time climbing instead of doing front levers all these years. Thanks for showing me the way chris!

Great stuff! Including the final comments of the fact that most of you didn't need to train for it (got it directly from climbing in steep overhangs/roofs) and that might not have a lot of transfer depending on your style. It's about motivation! If you have a calisthenics mindset and enjoy training for skills, go for it! Otherwise, you might need to decrease your climbing load to actually see some improvements.

Really good I loved the whole tutorial. Alex wearing that somewhat manky yellow Patagonia T reminded me that I used to have one like it and wore it everywhere on the rock even when it got full of holes so my climbing buddies took it and cut it up into strips cause they were sick of it.

I feel the real benefit of the front lever is more the power from the armpit muscles when not only pulling yourself up as in campus but also outward. Like those muscles are key for bigger throws and keeping body away from current position. But great vid. As well the pinky finger board hang is crazy. I’d definitely hurt myself attempting that.

If you train your front leaver with rubber support make sure the rubber is connected straight over your feet. If the rubberband is applayed to the bar and connected to your feet it will push you away from the bar and the shoulder angle gets worse.

Great tutorial 👌 I'm a tall climber at 195cm (6'4); Do you think it may be more difficult for longer bodied folk to acquire strength 💪 for front levers?

Yes...The angle of the joints is also crucial. If you look at competitive gymnastics, this is why joints are measured in childhood.

Good video. Only thing I think is incorrect: straddle legs is easier than bent legs. The final progression: straddle, bent both legs, bent one leg, full lever.

Great video and tutorial. Even though I am nowhere near as strong as any of you, here's my two cents : One exercice could be set up better, the one with the rubber band. the band should actually be connected to the bar and to your waist, not your feet. because it is far from your center of mass, and it teaches you to push down with your feet into the band, which leads to dropping down when there's no band. with the band around the waist you just get support, and closer to your center of mass. Other than that it's great !

That would be nice, but here's what i picked up after trying to learn how you can read if you'd like you have to pick which arm to put higher up, and which to put lower on the bar when you become the flag the arms have different things to do, as the one higher up you use to pull, and the one lower takes most of the weight of your body. and train accordingly your arms sideways planks might be a good training for this as well, at least for the core stability

the front lever doesn't involve the lower back. The lower back pull the hips towards the back which causes an arch in the back. In the front lever we use the abdominal muscles because they pull the hips to the stomach and keeps our hips from dropping down and arching.
@alexandermegos8129
@alexandermegos8129 Жыл бұрын
...of course ..completely no involvement...than you can't even stand on the ground ...The back extensor, by the way, starts at the lumbar spine. So to speak in the lower back 😉

Surprised a climber is offering a front lever tutorial. A front lever is a cool move, but being able to do a front lever has very little translation to climbing. It's better served as a benchmark. Most strong climbers can eventually do a front lever without any real training. But climbers who trained the front lever don't climb anywhere near as hard as those who achieved it without training.
@alexandermegos8129
@alexandermegos8129 Жыл бұрын
.. because we got asked for 😉 the frontlever is one of the main wanted exercises next to the one arm pullup...and has a long tradition in climbing history (John Gill) father of modern climbing did it one handed 😉
