They're actually also known as 'single quotes', as opposed to the more well-known 'double quotes'. You mostly see it in computing, where regular expression will work with single quotes, but double quotes will take the characters as they are.

Normally outside of computing you would also use single quotes for a quote within a quote. Like if you were quoting someone quoting someone else in an essay, you'd use single quotes. Now what if there were quotes inside of your embedded quote? Would you make triple quotes to go around the most encompassing quote? I don't know. Ask an English teacher.

@3:58 Namco patented the idea for having a mini-game during a loading screen in 1995... Because of that, no software since then has been able to include the feature. Thankfully it expired in Fall of 2015-- probably around the time these guys were designing their OS. I'm looking forward to seeing it more too!

By the way if you want to someone to touchtype + game, it's a pretty good idea to teach the home row first so they can use both in games and work. Left hand: Little finger on the "A" key. Ring finger on the "S" key. Middle finger on the "D" key. Pointer finger on the "F" key. Thumb on the "Space bar". Right hand: Thumb on the "Space bar". Pointer finger on the "J" key. Middle finger on the "K" key. Ring finger on the "L" key. Little finger on the ";" key. Doing it this way will vastly improve typing speed, the user will know where every key is, and will be able to get to them with ease.

How cool is this?! I just bought the Kano for my sons xmas gift. It was pretty much ALL he wanted. He's 9, and he absolutely LOVES it! He's neck deep in the Minecraft coding part of it, and while I did work with him on it to begin with- he has since clearly told me he does not need daddy's help! lol. So he's been going at it alone for the past 2 weeks, and while he doesn't use it every single day, he does play with it more than regularly. It's crazy to see how much they're learning without even knowing they're doing so! As far as he's concerned, it's no different than just learning a new way to play what's already his favorite game (Minecraft).

Great video for Kano. It's fascinating to see how young children (in theory main target of your product, even if they don't buy it) interact with software/hardware differently. They don't get Matrix references (although parents will chuckle a bit), they don't get the "dropdown", help arrows, that you have to "fake choose" a color, what a block is, what's Pong (another chuckle from parents maybe). I hope it's not the case, but it looks like they did spend a lot of time developing the product, but maybe not enough (yet) with the target user to pick up those moments when there's misunderstanding, those "what now" and "what's X" moments.
