Butternut squash tip: just roast it whole for 30mins, then take it out, cut it up (super easy to cut at that stage), and put it back in the oven until it's done. x

Regarding the plastic packaging for all the veggies on your grocery order - Sainsbury's does not do that, so that might be a better alternative to order from.

Top tip for the butternut squash: prick it with a knife and microwave it on high for a couple of minutes before peeling with a vegetable peeler or trying to cut it. It'll be softer and easier to cut!

So calming 😍 And summer time really is salad time, isn't it? 😊 What I don't get though is why you order your groceries anyway. If you don't like the plastic bags why don't you go to the shops yourself?

the salads look delicious, how do you pickle the onions? :)
@OmgTaylorD2 жыл бұрын
Hey, I noticed this didn’t have a reply so I wanted to hop on a tell you how I do them… just because once I realized how simple they are, I started making them all the time. :) It’s suuuuper easy! I just do one part vinegar (I use white or apple cider) and two parts water and stick them in a jar to refrigerate for about 30 mins. I always slice the red onions really thin and it always comes out so tasty and works as a perfect salad topper. You could always throw in a bit of salt and pep as well!

Would a diagnosis of ADHD improve the quality of your life if anyway?
@helenawebster88122 жыл бұрын
i mean, i wouldn't personally seek an adhd diagnosis unless you have known something is 'wrong' your entire life but can't figure out exactly what, because if it isn't affecting you to the degree that you need a diagnoses/treatment, what's the point, you're just taking already inaccessible services away from people who need them. you can just have traits and not have adhd, not everyone who binge eats/drinks has adhd, it's just that people with adhd are more likely to do those things than the general population bc of the way our brains work in regards to dopamine. do some research and be aware that everyone expereinces the symptoms of adhd to some extent, but is it stopping you from acheiving, is it impacting you to the degree that it stops you doing daily activities. a good sign of adhd is your teeth. if you don't have enough self dicipline to both remember and to make yourself brush your teeth everyday, you have problems with executive function that are actually impacting you and your health (not that everyone with untreated exec dysfunction doesn't brush their teeth but it's a good benchmark) ingore the typos pls i can't type lmao
@blablubb1112 жыл бұрын
the thing that has been 'wrong' seems to be her problem with alcohol so I think she has every reason to look into it. Also saying people should not get diagnosed because there is not enough resources is not a good approach, you only know if you need those resources if you have tried to get diagnosed. If you then find out that you have ADHD, you have the same right to them as others. Advocating for more resources seems like a more constructive approach.
@EyeGlassTrainofMind2 жыл бұрын
While it seems like you're trying to come from a thoughtful place, I agree with bla blubb about the lack of construction. You are absolutely right that having binge alcohol problems does not inherently equate to ADHD just like hyperactive cleaning does not inherently equate to OCD. One thing I will add here is that you mention "is it impacting you to the degree that it stops you doing daily activities", there's a big problem in that sometimes you are managing but very poorly and you just think that there's no other way you can do things or even that you don't realize things are negatively affecting daily life but they are. Until I sought out diagnosis and really researched more about my own mental health because of some things other people mentioned to me, the veneer of what I was personally used to experiencing prohibited me from seeing what was going on. We also do not know and frankly it's none of our business to know, what else Lucy is going through and how it affects daily living. From a public health standpoint I think waiting until things get "really bad" like the teeth example is actually a poor way of gauging whether or not a problem needs support to be addressed. I have family in the States who wait until things have gotten so bad that they have really damaged their mental health by saying "it's not that bad" "other people need it more than me"...but have we stopped to think that if we all treated our minds like we did other physical ailments and treated them early in development that fewer people would be getting to that level of severity? Mental health issues can (not always) but they can grow if left untreated even if they may appear to be benign. The answer to fewer infrastructure resources is not to hoard them but to enhance and build up the system--even get more into politics and other forms of public service not disparaging others from trying to find answers and help.

Agree with the two replies above. I think it’s very unfair to dismiss someone’s interest in enquiring about a diagnosis, if she is considering getting the assessment she clearly has cause for it and we are not entitled to know the reasons. As a ‘high achieving’ female late diagnosed with adhd, my life has been immensely helped by my diagnosis and having a better understanding of my brain. However it’s attitudes like this that put me off looking into it until I finally hit a breaking point last year. Its awful that we have to get to that point for it to be considered fair for us to investigate our mental health. Best of luck Lucy!
