What you hide from the world owns everything you do. Your most successful existence will come from making friends with your broken places and being of service. Know yourself and you will know what your life's work is meant to be.
Stephanie Snyder has been inspiring students through yoga for well over a decade. Her commitment to happiness, movement, breath, and prayer honor the pure teachings of yoga and spring from her belief that, through mindfulness training, anyone can be empowered to fulfill their highest purpose.
Based in San Francisco, Stephanie Snyder leads retreats, workshops, public classes, and teacher trainings all around the country and the world. She is honored to sit on the Board of Directors of Headstand, a Bay Area non-profit organization that brings yoga to at-risk youth, raises awareness about the crucial benefit yoga has to anyone in crisis through fundraising workshops. Stephanie has written for Yoga Journal Magazine, is the creator of a Yoga Journal DVD, Yoga for Strength and Toning, and has been featured on the cover of several health and wellness magazines. She regularly presents at conferences and universities.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I normally wait till the end to say I like a video but when Stephanie said that she dreamed of working in a tall building, having expensive handbags and extremely expensive shoes and that now she teaches Yoga and that in Yoga we don't even get to wear shoes, I then loved it so much and the video is already worth. ;-)

Powerful. Listening to her speak I hear myself. You want to do what. You're a doctor, why do you want to spend time in a gym or yoga studio all day. I realize my calling is being active, not sitting all day in an office, but show people how to limber up and feel better. Thank you for giving me the courage to listen to what I want, rather than what others want of me.

pursuit of passion the meaning of our lives All we need to do is stop. Pause. Look in and be a witness to the longing of our own heart. Then we know what we are called to do. Are you able to stop, pause and listen to the longing of your own heart? What parts of yourself do you hide from? What do you lie about? What causes you pain? What makes you squirm? When do you feel inadequate? What do you pretend about? What patterns of behavior are not serving you?

Great Talk. Brene Brown's shoes are large to fill. This is along the same lines and my comment should truly be taken as a compliment.

I feel inadequate all the time, about everything. I’d have to be an entirely different person to like even a single aspect of myself lmao. Somehow I don’t think that is possible 🙃

She is smart, beautiful and privileged and expected the world to fall down at her feet. Her chemistry is the language of NOW but she didn't get it with sales, so she got it with YOGA. The NOW she and her chemistry craves is a bliss, more blissful that all her societal positive points of smart, beautiful and privileged. These positive points were a promise of bliss but had no direct immediacy, not a NOW. In fact, they were a double edged sword. So she is telling you all this from flaky San Fran and the land of YOGA, but what she is in real life stills remains to be seen.

Hmm yeah, or a philosophy that has existed and been honed and passed down for thousands of years and then made its way to the West because, well, it resonates with people cos of the human condition. Y'know, that's all.
