I really don't understand why people use supplies that don't go together when they have predicted it not to, and then seen with their own experience that they indeed don't go well together. Especially if you're not well acquainted with one of the media. It just ruins your experience of the supply.. 'Challenge' be damned, imo

watercolor/water-based pen tips :: • blend with water IMMEDIATELY after applying ink to best avoid ghosting • always put down less ink than you think you need if you plan on going over with water, don't fill in the whole shape and expect it to blend out • if you're having a realllly rough time getting a flat wash, lay down a wash of water before putting down ink to help the ink lay down smoother (you can also use this to get nice blooming if you want that texture in a certain area) • hot pressed watercolor paper (or a realllly heavy weight cardstock) sometimes works better because the ink sits on top of the paper longer allowing for easier blending • you can always apply ink directly to your brush for a lighter shade (i prefer this over wasting ink by dipping my pen in water) • i like to use them together with regular watercolor for details so i can get really precise marks while keeping the watercolor look • using them straight like you would use a copic marker doesn't work so well, since it's water based any large areas filled in with purely the marker will end up streaky unless you move extremely quickly and don't go over any area twice, so the smaller the area the easier it will be to get even colors • they are quite fun to add color to thumbnails or to do color mockups, because there it doesnt need to be perfect and you still hace the ability to blend with water to vaguely see how the final piece would look in all watercolor but anyway, while i do think there are uses for all art supplies and even artists who don't focus on or particularly enjoy specific supplies can find use in them, it's important to remember that if you ever feel like you really and truly dislike using something to the level where it makes you feel worse about your art and the process of being creative, don't use it! if you feel like it's something that just doesn't match with your art and the way you work, that's okay and you don't have to force yourself to make it work. if it's something you're passionate about learning but it's frustrating you, then maybe take a step back and figure out exactly what about the medium is upsetting you or making it difficult, and once you've figured that out you can continue from that point. if it's something you don't even really want to use, though, just don't.

Honestly I don't think it's so much as being negative as just being truthful! What are these art supply boxes thinking? You, Rin, and Myra all had trouble with making these supplies work well together. Being honest with these art supply box companies is going to make them improve their boxes (hopefully), so it's good to be truthful. (inserts Edna Mode gif saying "PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER" xD)

When I use water brushes, I mainly use that as a normal brush, when I need to change my color, I dip it in the water and squeeze it a Little so I don’t have the risk of mixing it with the color I used last, and I only really use the water in the brush when I’m using the same color (I use a pan set) I don’t think water brushes are any good in tube paint... because the paint gets stuck in it. Idk this is just my experience, hope it’s helpful for anyone!

My favorite thing about your art is that the drawings just punch people in the face with personality. There’s so many unique, interesting shapes and they somehow remain cohesive. You’ve mastered the things I believe make art great, the soul of it. I’m going to aspire to be more like you, I wish my style of drawing were more simple like yours (truly not an insult, not even in the slightest, you can have fun with art without stressing yourself out like I do). Instead I draw full out, never completing anything because it took too long and never improving because I get depressed over it and quit. My art doesn’t feel like it has a style, and I haven’t gotten better in like 8 years. I think I got too depressed for art, and now that I want it back, have no idea how to find it. I’ve never had a style, and I’d like to learn myself enough to make one, but damn... I’m so obsessed with it coming out right that I lose the entire piece. I just don’t know how to find a style, how to force myself to practice, how to fill a sketchbook. I just fizzled out. Anyone else?
