Quick tip: When starting fires don't take anything off of any tree if you can help it, it is either live wood (hard to light) or contains residual moisture if it is dead. Instead, use wood and tinder from the ground whenever possible (as long as it is dry).
@oddhuman6 жыл бұрын

Respectfully I can understand the sarcasm as there really isn't much of a need for such a skill with modern day tech .....And in honesty your comment is funny by all rights as its not common or normal behavior by standards advocated in todays society . But if you would look past your cynicism you may find a hole new experience that can be very rewarding . Pride often influences behavior and as a result people often choose to over look simplicity or basics .....History has taught mankind that lesion time and time again ......Yet we are motivated by convenience .....So rather than pass asinine judgment I for one would likely look upon this individual with profound curiosity .....evaluating the situation and asking questions ......Perhaps why are you rubbing two sticks together ? Because to reiterate its not considered normal behavior by todays standards but Iam sure after seeing the results most would be impressed with results .....And to be honest who would I be to pass judgment that in truth would be nothing more than stereotypical .

In most of Sweden it's forbidden at the moment to even start up a campfire (or using fire somehow in general), let alone trying to learn how to start a fire. Be careful people!

i did the exact same thing before even watching : i tried both ways of making a fire and after 20 minutes of hard work i got a tiny little smoke and i gave up ,then i had an idea" what would happen if i use a drill with a stick " but i said that it will be a headache to do and i watched your video and you actually used the drill :)))))

Hey Mike! I've been a huge fan of your channel for quite some time now! I am currently studying at the university of british columbia in kelowna and I just wanna say that your videos always make me smile and I really appreciate what you've been doing! I would really love to see you finish your back flips. that is on my own bucket list and I would love to see you achieve this as well! if you do it, I promise I will learn it as well and I'll film and document myself too!

I'm fairly certain that's how primitive tech does it too. I think he even showed a video once, lighting a fire with an even more efficient technique, where you exert an up and down pumping motion. During the upstroke a cord ravels around the stick, and during the down it unravels, spinning the stick.

Primitive Technology's youtube channel is a much better source for survival skills. Don't get me wrong, Mike is great at a lot of things and I love his drive to learn new things, but he is by no means a survival man. (Tip for Primitive Technology's videos: turn on closed captions because he doesn't actually speak in his videos though he is incredible at teaching survival skills)
