Just had my first night of learning to ride my new V10F. I picked a grocery store parking lot at night after my afternoon shift. Spent about two and a half hours going at it. After the first hour I was finally able to go unsupported for a good 50 meters or so. By the end of the session I felt like I could have kept going indefinitely, if the parking lot was infinitely long. Lol. Still can't turn very well. I'm 51. Yes, I'm sore this morning.

it's not about motivation, it's about seeing his technique and seeing if there's ways you can incorporate it. at least that's how i learned to wheelie/other basic bicycle tricks

it takes me at least 100 attempts on a bmx to get even close to landing a trick. probably closer to 1000 to land it 1/15 tries, etc. repetition is key

I don't know how to ride backwards yet but I know there's muscle memory involved and as with any other thing that requires balance, you never look down but keep looking forward and focus up on one spot if possible.

Thank you for sharing this is fantastic content! I am trying to learn how to ride backwards. I learned the hard way that you have to have complete protection below the knees to your ancles because when you drop the wheel (and you will) it wants to hit you in the shins!

I started on a V11 and have been riding it for 6 months now. I have about 500 miles on it and would say I am a pretty good rider. I can ride one footed, turn on a dime, jump it, and ride seated. The one thing I cant do is ride backwards, mainly because I dont want to trash the wheel dropping it. I've only dropped the wheel once since I started riding so its still in perfect shape.
@ajibub3622

I didn't trash my wheels until I started to try riding backwards. Now pedals and pedal hangers are all gouged and scraped up. All is good if I get it in the end.

Watching videos like yours and the progress you can make in one day makes me wonder if I just suck or if jumping straight to the Sherman S was starting on Hard mode 😅 training backwards is no joke 🥵 I'm in amazing shape, but the constant one legged lunges, body squats, and micro adjustments takes one heck of a toll 😤 and what's weird is that a lot of the progress seems magical, because it's a lot of subconcious improvements, like... idk why I did that better; I just did.
@landocycle
@landocycle 3 ай бұрын
If you ever find a small EUC for cheap, maybe pick it up to hone your balance skills on because the Sherman S is NOT going to be an easy training wheel. Also, enjoy the process my dood! You’ll get there at your own pace and that’s 100% ok 👌

Inmotion V3 - the funny double wheeled unicycle helps to improve riding backward skill a lot. It is easier to balance and you get used to backward motion easily. After bit of practising on V3 the switch to real EUC is much easier. So if you can get one somewhere (they are not in stock anymore) it can help you to learn this skill with less effort. Before I discovered this trick I was trying to ride bacwards and never had enough patience to acomplish anything besides scratched ankles. Good job.

I don't have the stamina to last 3.5 hours of practicing backward. Guess I'll just have to be patient and do it for a lot of days.
@0xsergy
@0xsergy Жыл бұрын
it's not ideal anyway, you gotta sleep on it. your brain practices muscle memory and other shit in your sleep so if you practice a trick a bit every day you'll notice big jumps the next time you get out there. plus, fresh muscles are better than 3 hours of dead tired ones writing bad muscle memory.

one thing from the bicycle world, when learning fakies(riding backwards) just do a bunch of quick left right left inputs instead of trying to actively balance it. the bike will go backwards for quite a while(longer than if you tried to manually balance it with your lack of skills) and each of these inputs give your brain data on what various actions do. idk if this is achievable on EUCs but it might speed up the learning curve.

That didn't take long, what six minutes. I was impressed that you kept track of your attempts, but then you stopped that. Maybe that was holding you back. Nice job. I'll wait a while before I try. I don't want to beat up my newish wheel. I'm still being held back by foot cramps.

All things considered that was fast! From my perspective it took less than 6 minutes. A few more scars on the V10f to mark your story ... I saw one video that suggested many small twists, zig zagging rather than trying to go in a straight line. See if that makes a difference. Keep it up Lando.

I've never really wanted to ride backwards but I have wanted to be able to rock back and forth while waiting for a traffic light. I have a V10 and a V11 so I will be looking for a place to practice with my V10 since it has a lot more scratches the the V11. I ever I figure it out on the V10 then I will try the V11. Thanks for the inspiration.
