People who bought a few years ago in Colombia have erased all their gains since the Colombian peso dropped.... Difficult to rent to foreigners. Difficult to do Airbnb. Only buy if you want it for yourself. Or buy a whole building.

More things can go wrong than well with real estate transactions in colombia. One of the most complex countries with regards to land distribution, ownership, and sketchy brokers and developers who are flipping paperwork or not completing projects. Also, you cannot use local banks to finance. New tax laws are also making things more complex for sale of property. Be careful out there and don’t feel pressured to buy. I just bought land and I’m building a house, fortunately it was a kosher deal.
