Hey! Great video. I had one small query, is ISB good for someone who was previously working in Fin. has cleared CFA and FRM and want to get into HF/PE? I've heard many people say that its a goldmine for consulting and PM and not so much for finance roles?

This is correct. Few PE/VC/IB roles and lots of competition. However, many alums take the consulting route to finance. Get into top consulting firms, try to specialize in PE/VC and then exit into buy side roles.

Hello sir, I am currently working in Ministry of Defence as a Gp 'B' officer since last 6 yrs and wish to pursue 01 yr MBA in India. I am handling the HR related work for almost 1600 employees working in various offices all over India. I have the following educational background 10th: 91% (CBSE BOARD) 12th: 89 (CBSE board) BTech: Electronics from a normal college (67%) GMAT: Aiming for a 740/750 If possible can you pls tell me what are my chances for securing admission in IIM A PGPX/ISB. I mean is my profile and experience suitable for the 01 yr MBA course ? And sir since you are also from a government background, do you have any advice for me to prepare myself for the MBA and the corporate work culture ? Your advice would be really helpful sir. Thanku

Admissions wise it would be fine if you get a good GMAT and submit great essays. Placement wise I'm not very sure cz 1 year MBA campuses rarely have HR related jobs. So I guess try moving out from your current role into a more general role which is more easily transferable to corporate/consulting. Having said that, there are HR/Human Capital practices of consulting firms as well that you can try. Eg- Deloitte has one definitely...

Sir it seems like having a good undergrad is really important, but i dont have that so, in future should i go for a 1 year mba or not. I m also right now in a govt. job. Or should i pursue something else? BTW luv ur content!! Keep on making such video.👍👍

Thanks. The application weighs 3 things - education, work ex, and extra-curriculars. If you think your education section is weak, try to get a great GMAT and build you other 2 sections to compensate. Then you will have a shot.
