I feel your pain on this one. Welcome to the world of free/cheap boats and the many dreamers and schemers who pursue them. This is why boatyards would often rather break up a boat than give it away. When you have a cheap boat people take that as an invitation to board at will. They take lots of unwarranted liberties, trespass, and steal. I was in your boatyard back in December. First thing I did was go to the office, give them my business card, present proof of insurance, then I asked permission to look around. The office staff and yard manager were very hospitable and my daughter and I had a delightful visit and a chance to share notes about boats and the Keys. A little courtesy goes a long way.

I love this Marina! I live here and I go once a month to see who is selling their boat. Ask the front desk(especially the sweet ladies) and they are so kind! Its amazing how many boats come in an out of the Marinas here in the Keys. Honestly the best working yard around, and prices are so reasonable.

I still say part her out, recover some of your money because you won't have any control over what happens to Freebe once you sign that title. And if you think having a signed contract makes a difference, remember it takes court action to enforce a contract. My prediction, the next owner is going to either part her out, anchor her down and abondan her. Make sure you transfer that title at either the DNR or DMV, whatever controls ownership in Florida.
@jpaul185354 жыл бұрын
Though I agree, I really hope Randi and Jordan can weed out the flippers/part out people. I submitted my entry and really hope to "win". I totally agree with the immediate transfer of title. Randi and Jordan need to be released of any liability as soon as the give someone their boat.

I worked at J & R for a few hours this afternoon. There is an old 41 Morgan OI where freebie used to be. How is life n the Keys? I would really like to get down there for a week or two toward the end of April. Business will be slowing a bit by then. Right now it is booming in spite of covid.

There are signs at the entrance to the boatyard telling all visitors, guests, or contractors to check in at office before entering the yard. Any one who does not do this is trespassing and probably up to no good.

No good deed goes unpunished. The folks in that boat yard are very accommodating but outsiders strolling around are a major no-no. Lots of liability and danger in a boatyard.
@edwiser35474 жыл бұрын
@@steveddad4385 I don't know anything about your background but you are clearly not familiar with the boat business and boatyards in particular. Uninvited "guests" are exactly that. They are trespassers. I know this yard and the staff well as noted above. They do not want unidentified strangers strolling in the gates and climbing on boats. Lots of theft occurs that way, especially in the Keys.
@edwiser35474 жыл бұрын
@@steveddad4385 Not sure how you arrived at the conclusion they have been doing anything shady. Looks upright to me and I am in the business. If they were promoting brokerage boats for a fee etc. it would make more sense to focus on the production boats that are marketable instead of these eccentricities that seem to attract them. There are some peculiar things about their videos though. They gravitate towards unusual boats that are usually major projects, but much, much worse they know nothing about boats. Green as grass. Everything is "cool" or "very cool." Their observations and summaries are about as novice as you can get and convey zero information of any value. I stopped watching the boat tour videos because they were a waste of time both in content and conclusions. I even offered to help them out twice and got no response. I only watched a few of them because they have "toured" three boats owned by a friend of mine who collects salvage sailboats for some reason.

They are not giving up yet, as plan to get another boat to fix up. One a bit more suitable to their long term plans (aka what they call forever boat). Which is why they are keeping the battery bank to put on their next boat. However, it might be a lil while as they work a job and save up ... or who knows it might be soon. Of course 'plans' change, so yea they might hang up their sails, just that is not the current plan at this time.

@@petertorrey236 Uhm yea because AC fraudently sold a service to its customers that they never provided a product for and deceptively swindled people of their money from everyone ... oh wait! No they did not. Every video that someone chose to voluntarily support was actually provided (how Patreon works) and was done just as advertised. Especially as they were pretty transparent, one of the earlier YT sailing channels that were. They always gave figures, always gave their dreams and plans, and always stressed what they were about (living small and that one can accompolish their dreams what ever that is if you commit yourself and put in the effort). Worse I enjoyed their entire content totally free, did not pay single dime. Wished I could have afforded too, but can't.

@@petertorrey236 Yep, I mean it was right in their channel name "Sailing Aband ...." oh wait, no it wasn't. Did you ever really even listen to what all they stressed and repeated often? Living frugally, simply and that their channel was all about that if THEY can achieve their dreams, then anyone can. Their dream of being debt free and acquiring a boat BEFORE they had even started the YT channel ... but bet you missed that lil transparent tidbit too. If you think they represented themselves as a sailing channel, then you are completely showing how clueless and how little attention you paid at all mate.
