I learned illustrator with a tutorial in 2012 but didn't keep up with it since then. I was kinda frustrated that I forgot so many things about this software because I know it is amazing for drawings. I'm following a tutorial to draw kawaii images and I had 4 options... procreate, clip studio art, photoshop and illustrator. I thought I could give it a try again. Almost didn't click when I saw it was more than 3 hours... THANK GOD I CLICKED! I followed a lot of tutorials in my life and I have NEVER had one as great as this one! The explications are super clear, it's easy to learn, it gets to the point... WOW. This is amazing. I can't thank you enough!

I was always discouraged from using Illustrator because of its apparent complexity but you break down each tool so well without overcomplicating things. The only thing I can't understand is how you did is the shape of the light reflection on the avocado pit (in the shape builder tool section). I can do the long curves but don't understand how you did the top and bottom smaller curves. In any case, I am grateful for your classes.

Excellent Beginners Look at AI - David you have a great speaking voice and teaching attitude. I created a pattern and used it to fill a shape. But it seems that the pattern filled the entire artboard and when I move the sharp around the artboard. the pattern changes as though the shape was a mask. How can I fill a shape with a patter and have it stick?

2022 seems different than the version you are using. my workspace key is not in the top right. also I cannot figure out how to start with my image the same way you have yours in step one. a first step of how to get the image up to look like yours before going into tool modifications would have been super helpful. I know I'm not as tech savvy as I was 10 years ago, but super duper beginner steps so I can make sense of everything else feels much needed. thanks
