I'm a portuguese native speaker and I understand everything they say, but when it comes for me to speak spanish it's difficult, it's so similar that I keep thinking in portuguese. I wonder if spanish native speaker can understand portuguese as well. These videos are amazing by the way.
@marcosantonio9987
@marcosantonio9987 8 жыл бұрын
Dude it's really easy for them too, but what I heard is that native speakers of Portuguese they have more facility to understand Spanish than the contrary. But as far as speaking is concerned Spanish is harder because of the trilled R and also the pronunciation of the L in words like Miguel or oLvidar.
@billyyanez7123
@billyyanez7123 7 жыл бұрын
You are sooo right. And that's bc we speak languages from the same family. As French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.. and even Romanian, they are romance languages. It's true Portuguese and Spanish speakers are able to understand each other if they speak slowly and clear, even to keep a conversation. But if we analyze the phonetic Italian and Spanish has a lot of similarities, but Portuguese is even more similar in structure and grammar. Portuguese has more sounds than Spanish and in the same way French has even more than Portuguese

English speaker student of Spanish here. I have often wondered about that, because I find Portuguese so similar to Spanish that I often think I am reading Spanish until I come across a word that makes no sense to me. I am usually one or two sentences in before I realize it. Likewise I have the same problem pronouncing similarly spelled words in English and Spanish. It is hard for me to get out of my English mindset to properly pronounce the same exact word in Spanish!

What an awesome channel. I wanted to encourage the creators of this channel. I started using this channel to improve my Spanish. I remember the first time that I started listening to the interviews I couldn't understand a single thing. Slowly and surely I started to listen to the interviews, make notes, slow down the speed and now I can listen to the first episode without any effort (even the speakers that I once though spoke so fast appear to speak at normal speed to me now...not even fast). Keep up the good work and thank you so much for helping us to understand this beautiful and rich language called Spanish.

Aldo Gutierrez Well, the word "mas" not always has an accent. If you use "mas" because you wanna talk about a number, that would be "más", yes, with an accent. Quiero MÁS comida = I want more food. but, on the other hand, "mas" means "but (pero)" too.. for example: Me gustaba mucho ese polo, mas era muy caro = I really like that shirt, but it was too expensive. In this situation is "mas" without the accent.

Los de la costa hablan mas claro y neutro. Es verdad que aspiran las eses, en vez de decir "estas" dicen "ehtah" pero despues de todo, asi hablan la mayoria de los sudamericanos y en general su acento es mas agradable y son faciles de entender.
