In Quran, prophet Zechariah (May Allah be pleased with him) says "White flames fell on my hair" to describe his old age. Marvellous metaphorical phrase.

Asalamualaikum I really enjoy your teaching Thanks a lot but would you please explain why there is a little changes in pronounciation of the words when used in sentence

Salam. Hadiatu. Case endings reflect the grammatical changes/cases for the word, thus the vowel for the last letter will change accordingly, depending on whether the noun is a subject, object, etc or on the mood of the verb etc. In spoken Arabic(natives) and Modern Standard Arabic case endings are largely dropped for ease of speaking and simplification. Sometimes we can say whole sentences without using any ending vowels or case endings (taskeen phemomena). For example: Baab باب is a door. This is how it would be pronounced. In classical Arabic (stricter in grammar) you would add the case ending (-un), thus: baabun. Also generally speaking when in pause or there is a fullstop, case endings are not pronounced. They are only pronounced when there is a word after: baabu al-bayt باب البيت the house's door. I am running a nonprofit Arabic learning workshop for breakthrough beginners from zero to A1 level and I explain all these details. Copied below the advert: NEXT ONLINE COURSE STARTS IN OCTOBER. SEVERAL PLACES FREE OF CHARGE. PLEASE TAKE NOTE AND FOLLOW THE PAGE. Advertisement will start in August/September. This is becoming a yearly event😀 and it's lovely to see how well my previous students have developed. You can join from the beginning or from the A1 start. Fill the form and I will contact you closer to the date: surveyheart.com/form/5fb0444f11457452796b8290
