Thank you for these videos! My boyfriend is persian, and he loves to tell me about Iran and the culture. But he doesn’t really want to teach me persian, so because of these videos, i always surprise him with a couple of words and sentences, which gives him a big proud smile and good giggle when my pronunciation is wrong. And it’s his birthday this month, so being able to congratulate him in his own language is important to me. I found you guys because my mom told me it would be a good idea to learn some of the language, since his father only speaks Persian, and it’s always a good way to show respect and love, to educate yourself on both culture and language. So I’ve been watching these and taking notes for some time now, and his mother always claps and laughs with a big smile when I say something! I’m danish myself, and the language is completely different, the way you pronounce words and use your tongue. So it’s a bit of a tongue twister sometimes, but it makes me feel closer to him and his family.

You are so nice!!! In Greece we do the same, whoever celebrates, pays as well... Unless his/her friends organise a "surprise party"

I think that's the same everywhere in this world, except for the USA!

Yes, you pay for your own birthday party, you invite your relatives, friends, colleagues, etc...but they should give you a birthday presents. Noone would come with empty hands! I know in eastern cultures the present could also be expensive, you can get jewelry, something of famous designer labels. Sure, it depends on which society class you belong to.
