Dear Monika, Thank you so much for making these videos. My Father was Polish and I had Polish lessons for three years, I met my husband in Polish lessons! My Father died 14yrs ago so apart from the odd trip back to Poland, I have no one to practice speaking Polish with😢. My husband remembers a few phrases.We speak very basic Polish in the Polish shop in our town.We are presently applying for Polish Citizenship and searched on ytube for some basic Polish lessons and found your videos. Monica you are a brilliant teacher...I so wish you had taught us all those years ago.Your style of teaching is perfect for us and you have solved the mystery of Polish numbers in one lesson.Even my 8 yr old Grandson is now learning Polish. We have watched most of the videos and we like it that they are short and simple to follow and look forward to seeing more, as we have now subscribed. Thanks Helen Mickiewicz 🥰

Thanks for putting this together, very helpful. I had a strange moment at 5:00 when I said aloud 'siedem' beginning with the English 's' sound, and then tried to quickly correct myself with the Polish 's' sound, suddenly finding myself back in school and hoping you weren't mad at me, haha!

I have a question about the pronunciation of the numbers three and four. How is the tongue placed in relation to the palate? I'm finding I'm having difficulty pronouncing those terms specifically.
@PolishwithMonika Жыл бұрын
'Trzy' has two sounds [t] + [sh] at the beginning. When saying [t] the tip of the tongue touches the back of the top teeth, then the tongue moves to the middle of the palate to pronounce [sh]. I made a video about "trz" here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpDbfK16j650sNE 'cztery' has two sounds [ch] + [t] at the beginning. When saying [ch] the tongue touches the hard palate, then the tip of the tongue touches the back of the top teeth when saying [t].

Here too: You say "Ile to x+x?" Polish native people ask like this: "Ile jest 1+1?". It is very confusing to why you make it seem like "ile to 1+1" is a correct way of speaking. Maybe it is not wrong grammatically, however, it is not how you speak. You need to emphasize what you mean.
