a simplified tuning for this is MelodyMaker eg by Lee Oskar, or Seydel brand, without any missing notes in here. thnx for the lesson. btw this tuning is recommended for nearly all Beatles songs, since you can play in different positions, allowing to do minor tunes.

Thanks LIam, once again thank you. Not only are your lessons laid out nicely for study, you make them enjoyable as well. The good and humorous man you are shows through. Also all the time is used well. I hate to compliment you by putting others down, but there are many that simply talk in circles. The worst example would be 3 minutes or true teaching and 10 minutes of round and round bragging and showing off. A good teacher assumes that their pupil has intelligence. You do that. Much appreciated. Don

I know how long it gets to be a great harp player. You deserve all the success you can get. If using my words can help you in any way please use them. It would be an honor. And yes, one way I check out the prominent youtube teachers is to check them out in bands. You pass the test. Subtle, bang hard when needed and no showboating. Thanks friend. Don USA

Crisp as usual. Will surely try it tonight. Am actually enjoying Diatonic Harmonica now. By the way, I have a personal querry and that is "do we get Chromatic Harmonica in the key of F# ?" If not "can one in F key be used istead ? If yes then how. A bit of advise from you will be of great help. Thanks.
@Learntheharmonica

So I can understand your question, are you asking what key of chromatic harmonica would be best for this specific song?
@hemantkumarkulkarni1676
@hemantkumarkulkarni1676 3 жыл бұрын
@@Learntheharmonica Well, I some how need a Chromatic Harmonica in the Key of F# for a specific purpose. Now Hohner appears to have discontinued their M27007 model which was in the key of F#. What is the next best alternative you can suggest to me in this case is what I wanted to know. As you might be aware that Harmonica playing is not that popular in India and getting one of your choice is a task. And a big thank you, needless to say, for the interest you always show.

I have recently purchased a 'Chromatic' harmonica and understand is different than yours, but I do like your style and the idea of eventually play a little tune to make sense of one's progress. I have tentatively followed (in a very loose sense of way) your instructions (the simple Happy birthday) and surprised myself with a vaguely recognizable melody. Do you by any chance have some lessons for a chromatic harmonica so I can follow you more correctly? Thank you, much appreciated. ♥

+MrEliott0 Thanks for your question. I'm just doing diatonic at the moment, but never say never! There are chromatic teachers on KZbin so I'd recommend refining your search to include 'chromatic' and see what you find! Best of luck. Liam

Ok, I have a question.. it is that I have seen some lessons of others harmonica tutorial, I have seen they are different...you have -(minuses) in your notes. And they ueses () brackets. Can explain it? Thank you for this tutorial, it was really helpful.
@Learntheharmonica
@Learntheharmonica 3 ай бұрын
Basically each teacher uses their own tab symbols. I use a pretty common one: positive numbers are blow notes, and negative (minus) numbers are draw/inhale notes. I hope this helps!

Can you tell how you can accurately tell if you are making the correct note sound. I am unhable to train my ear so any thoughts would be appreciated.
@Learntheharmonica
@Learntheharmonica Жыл бұрын
Yes, the easiest thing is to check a chromatic tuner for the notes you are trying to play. However, the BEST thing to do is to compare with another instrument, so you are using sound rather than sight. If it's a familiar song like Yesterday, you should be able to tell if you are playing the right notes because it will sound like the song.

unrelated question: I own the same harmonica as you (C) marine Band, and i noticed the 8th, 9th and 10th are much more difficult notes to play when blowing. is it expected or is my harmonica broken? (i just bought it) thanks! cheers
@Learntheharmonica
@Learntheharmonica 7 жыл бұрын
It's possible that the harmonica is broken, but much more likely that you need to work on your technique. Check out my video on playing single notes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5yol62YYpijf68 Also this quick video on breath control, which may apply to you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnasYpWjorV6mLM Cheers, Liam

The harmonica is a tough and tricky instrument. It is one of the reasons it is so challenging and frustrating at times. Feels good when different aspects and mastery fall in line. The upper register requires a different subtler approach, with much less pressure.
@donschmitz2412
@donschmitz2412 6 жыл бұрын
Gave this a little thought. For me it is easier to deliver less pressure via tongue block. I taught myself better mastery from switching between tongue blocking and pucker so I could use both.

Hi, thanks for asking. It depends on the exact tuning of your harmonica. Do you know the make and the model of the instrument? The easiest thing is to get a 10 hole diatonic harmonica to follow my lessons. Cheers, Liam
