That's exactly how I landed on this video. Interestingly, my pulmonary doctor said not to bother and just to do the pursed lip breathing. But I've seen quite a bit of evidence to the contrary and it's nice to see you confirm that harmonica can be helpful as well. I hope your patients will film their Christmas show (assuming you can swing it) and upload it here on youtube. I imagine it would be quite inspirational for others with breathing issues.

I leart harp hitch-hiking around Australia in the 90's. I used to cover huge distances between towns jamming out on my harmonica. Have fun it's a great instrument and you can rock oùt with guitar guys around a fire and take a jam session to a whole new level.

Geeeezzz!!! Someone gave me a harmonica for my birthday 7 years ago. After trying several unsuccessful video tutorials I decided to quit. It was so stressful. I just put the instrument in its box and leave it next to my computer. Watching it with sadness every single day. By accident I found this vid today, I was watching it and I decided to grab my harmonica again. I bought my very first harmonica yesterday. After researching and thinking I went with the Hohner blues master. I know it's nothing special but for tryout it was affordable. I looked at the order carefully to buy a C Major one. When it arrived I was excited. For about 2 minutes until I opened it, and find it out I got a G Major harmonica in a C Major box. I sent it back so I can order another C Major one now. Rough start.

Nice tutorial! I’ve been playing the diatonic harmonica for 53 years. My first harmonica was in the key of B-flat. I always play the harmonica with two hands. It’s the only way I can play it with feeling, phrasing, vibrato, note-bending and all that good stuff. BTW: Among my many instruments, the harmonica, pan flute and slide whistle are the only instruments I play strictly by ear. And the first tune I learned to play on the harmonica was the “Wedding March” with chords. 🎶

My dad used to play the harmonica when I was a youngster. He'd sit on the couch playing whatever it was he was playing, sometimes for hours. I looked for that harmonica after he died a few years ago, and couldn't find it. I play the guitar, and have often thought about doing the whole playing a harmonica while playing the guitar thing. I also drive a truck. That has me thinking that I could learn how to play harmonica while I'm driving the highway every day, since I can do it with one hand, being straight up while looking forward. Thanks for the beginner tips. I may just go ahead and order a harmonica now.

Hey Luke, I'm so glad I found your channel. I am a huge blues/jazz fan, and I have decided I want to learn to play the harmonica (at 54-years-old)! My wife and kids are all very musically talented singers, and my wife plays the guitar, daughter piano/keys, and my son the drums. I am NOT musically talented in any way, but I LOVE MUSIC! Excellent video! I have an M. Hohner "Blues Harp" that's about 50 years old. I think my parents gave it to me as a gift one year. I've never even tried to play it. I pulled it out today and took a look at this video. By the end, I was sounding pretty badass! I'm a woodwind player and never could even begin to imagine how this instrument is played. It's not as impossible as I thought!

Not so long ago I decided I would learn to play a musical instrument and the harmonica looked quite accessible given its price and size. Now I am pretty sure I’ve just found the best tutorial video ever! This has provided me the missing motivation to keep on going

This is really helpful for beginners. I've been wanting to play the harmonica for years as a kid and as a teen I'm 30 years old now. I'm thinking of giving it a go When I see a harmonica playing, I instantly think of one of my favourite singers and songwriters, Bob Dylan.
