I figured out that for the last step, you don't have to divide one of the original numbers by the result, like 5202/17, you can simply look at the notes to the right and work out how many times does the 17 go into 5202 step by step. Like, the last red note is 2, and the note above it says 1r17, so 2*1+(17/17) is 3. The next note says 6r34, so 3*6+(34/17) is 20. It's also worth noting that these results correspond to the numbers written in the left column, so 20 corresponds to 340, 3 corresponds to 51, etc. The next note says 7r51, so 20*7+(51/17) is 143. The last note says 2r340, so 143*2+(340/17) is 306. If you can't do 340/17 quickly, then just remember that the previous results correspond to the left column. (20 corresponds to 340, so 340/17 must be 20) Anyways, 306 is the result, because we've reached the top. This seems complicated, but just try it for yourself, it's really not that difficult.

@MaximilianBerkmann7 жыл бұрын
You probably already found the answer to this question since you posted that 3 months ago. But a way to do that would be to get the common LCMs of a with b and a with c such that. Given three numbers a, b and c; you end up with {x | x∈LCM(a, b) & x∈LCM(a, c)} which is the set that will give you the LCM of a, b and c.

Remember: that the remainder doesn't come from the complete division process, but rather from the first time you do it that's why such as in 9:45, the remainder is 130-from 1040/455 → 1040 - 910 //455*2// = 130 so it's 2 with a remainder 130, and it isn't 2.*285714*. . ., which is what you get for the final remainder after solving it.

Does this same method work when trying to find the LCM of 3 numbers?
@veronicarios50423 жыл бұрын
Hello, I wanted to ask a question about the problem using the numbers 45 and 20. When we found the GCF was 5. You then said we had to divide 45 and 20 by 5. Yet you only dividing 45 and 5. You got 9 and then multiplied by 20 and got that as an answer. I'm a little lost on why we didn't divide 20 by 5. I am trying to learn this correctly but still feel confused.
@luiro95513 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Just like the first example with 72 and 60, once we get the GCF; in this case the gcf is 5 for 45 and 20, we must divide any of the 2 numbers with the gcf then multiply it with the remaining number of the two. He did 45 divided by 5 and got 9 and so 9 x 20 = 180. If you divided 20 by 5 first, then multiply the quotient with 45 you will get the same answer of 180. Im not too good with explaining math stuff but I hope you got it by now :3

Hello tecmath, I have an easiest trick to find the LCM OK? For an example: 3 and 9 (Sometimes, When three numbers, you may use this formula (a × b × c) So let's move on. Do this 3 × 9 = 27 So the answer is 27. Now for three numbers: 3 and 4 and 5 Do this 3 × 4 is 12 × 5 = 60 is the LCM.

hey i think i found an error for finding the GCF. i have the question with the 2 numbers 12 and 8. I do what you told 12, 8 8 goes into 12 1 times with a remainder of 4 and now I bring down the 8 8 / 4 = 2 no remainder. The GCF is actually 4 so is this a flaw? Pls help because I have a test tmr.
@nyone404011 ай бұрын
that's the first step and you did it correctly, but now like he said in the video step #2 you need to see how many times that GCF goes into one of those two numbers, and then multiply by the other whole number; for example 4 goes into 12 three times (12/4 = 3) now take that number and multiply it by the other whole number (3*8 = 24) and that's your LCM. As mentioned in the video you can do it with either of your two numbers because it will give the same result (8/4 = 2 and 2*12 = 24)

Sir u did wrong calculation in the question 1040 and 455 LCM. Please recheck the working. U divided the smaller number by the GCF at the end. Instead u had to divide the bigger number by the GCF
@tecmath8 жыл бұрын
+Gaurav Gupta Thanks for the comment. Once you find the the GCM you can divide this into either the bigger our smaller number, then multiply by the other number. The result is the same.

tecmath sir in last question I tried solving 5202 / 17. Although I did not know it was perfectly divisible, I somehow managed to solve using your long division method. Where the remainder was also divisible by 17. I added the quotient of the remainder to the units value of the final quotient derived and got the answer. I hope I did correct.

Relativity students. Some of the nitpickier ones would also like to point out that due to mass-energy equivalence, for all objects not at rest the equation has to be changed to E = [(p^2c^2) + m^2c^4]^1/2, where P is the object's momentum.

will this method work for 3 separate numbers? how would you go about it? say something like the LCM of 2, 5, and 7.
@luiro95513 жыл бұрын
I have made up an equation based on the one in this video, tho it isnt completely reliable. When finding the lcm of 3 numbers , let's take 2 7 5 as an example, you multiply the greatest number and the second to the greatest number. So, 7 x 5 = 35. Then we leave 35 and 2 beside each other and check, is 35 divisible by 2? The answer is no. So we multiply them, 35 x 2 = 70. The lcm of 7 2 and 5 is 70! As i said, this doesnt apply to all questions, since i rushed in finding the answer to your question over a timespan of 10 minutes. There are many rules that are applied in this method, it just so happens that i got lazy in trying to clarify all of it. This prolly didnt help but i hope it gave you at least an idea...ok bye 😭
