I struggled with a cheap set so I bit the bullet and bought a good set online. The ones from the big box stores aren't worth the frustration. Just an fyi. 😊

I saw a bobcat with a long tail this last elk/deer season. Crossed the tail right in front of me. But because of the tail I just figured it was some lost or feral cat (not unusual up here). Then I did some searching and found they have that genetic "defect" so it was most likely a bobcat. I saw it 3 times that day. We were both hunting the same area apparently. The piece looks pretty damn good. The pyro adds the prefect shades to be very natural looking.

Thank you! And that would be so cool to see a real long tail in person.

Daniel, you’re quite an artist. You should frame this Bob Cat. It’s definitely a work of art. Just beautiful!! Best regards, Richard 10:42

Nice burn, what was the black tool you used when not burning? A modelling tool I expect. You'll laugh but when you said you were going to burn a bobcat I thought a tractor, as I'm from Australia!!
@DanielReachCreations
@DanielReachCreations Жыл бұрын
Thats called a hair blade. It's got a bit on each end of it that creates hair lines. Great for projects like this. That would be a fun project...a bobcat tractor. LOL

Can you give some examples of how a heavy touch could be useful ?
@theartsypixie2771
@theartsypixie2771 Жыл бұрын
When I do it I use a light touch and just go over it again and again cause you can darken but not lighten and the harder you go the tip gets color faster so you have to stop a minute and let it get back to the temp you set. I also use a fan directed away from me but not at the work.
@DanielReachCreations

Exactly! Great answer.
@DanielReachCreations

I misread your question on my last reply, so...allow me to try that again. Instead of a heavy touch, I would use a prolonged touch. Pressing hard doesn't really get you much and, like pixie said, it drops the temp of your tip really quickly. So...light short touch or light prolonged touch. A longer touch is going to cause a darker color faster, but you run the risk of burning the leather and having it crack. Thats why I suggest you build it up slowly.

So awesome. I am just learning, what would be the best pattern for beginners?
@DanielReachCreations
@DanielReachCreations Жыл бұрын
For pyrography? I would suggest starting with something that has very little shading in it for the first project. Start small, and work up. The slower you go with the color, the easier it is to correct if you need to. 🙂

@@DanielReachCreations Thanks, should I use the swivel knife then use the woodburner?
@DanielReachCreations
@DanielReachCreations Жыл бұрын
@@pamelalittlefield4608 If you're good with a swivel and a bevel, I would do both of those first. Really helps define the hard boundries. If you're still not comfortable with those two, I'd just practice with the wood burner for now.

Lol. Those are the ice bracers, with "dragon skin in lay". It's a special white dye that I have an icy blue look to.

@DanielReach-TheLeatherVerse ohh I just got a mystery metallic lamb skin in icy blue from Weaver that I could use. I always throw one into the cart to see what color I get Ive been hoping for a red abd didnt really know what to do with the blue one but now I do. Would make a nice inlay background. Off to the drawing board I go. 😊

Hey Daniel, can you explain the importance of keeping your leather cased while doing pyrography? Is there a downside to not casing the leather especially if you're doing pyrography only and not using the swivel knife & bevel?
@jkellogg1093
@jkellogg1093 6 ай бұрын
what purpose does casing serve from a pyrography perspective? Seems odd to want something wet then burn into it?

Does pyro thing you're doin work on crazy horse? Or any oil tan?
@WeaverLeatherSupply
@WeaverLeatherSupply 11 ай бұрын
It does, but we wouldn't recommend it. High heat and chrome tan leather can produce toxic fumes so it's not recommend for use with lasers or pyrography tools.
