Leather Resisting Technique

The resisting technique using Gel Antiques or Hi-Lite Stain brings depth to leather craft. It highlights tooling and carving work on the surface while shadowing cuts and impressions. The resist process gives character to leather, an aged look many have come to love. The most important step with a resist is to make sure you apply a sealant like Tandy’s Eco-Flo Super Shene or Top Finish first. After that you can apply Eco-Flo Hi-Lite Stain or Gel Antique. Try this process on your leather goods. The results will speak for themselves.

a good point to know about this is that it only works with water base dyes. if you try it with oil base the dye will go right through any sheen or blocker you put on.

I like how you made the opening on the eco-flo so small that you cannot dip your dauber in, now you have to pour it out into another container, I am sure that is so we have to waste a lot so we have to buy more eco-flo. No resist works well with saddle tan or mahogany in my experience

You don't want to put a dauber in the Gel Antique bottle. Fibers will break off and contaminate the mixture. When you get that wool in any water based formula it can grow mold over time.

You can actually remove the weird little spout those eco-flo dyes have. I did it before. Just pry it off with a knife
