Im in bergen projects and not sure which new project to start out of the many I want to do, so I love this series. Think I'm just going to play with stamps and get the creative juices flowing. 😊

Amazing. That was the fastest twenty-minute video I've ever watched. Totally lost track of the time watching all of those creative possibilities. Now I'm itching to try some.

Hi there, love your videos. But can you do close up shots of the final design ?

Chuck, from what I could see, that last design looked like wheels on a train. Pretty cool.

I'm just learning this beautiful art of "leather stamping", and these videos have helped me a lot! I have a question... Why is marble or granite used as a base? Could someone teach me? thanks
@theconsummatenerd2 жыл бұрын
Granite or marble is hard and has lots of mass. This allows the force of your blows to go into the leather and not into the table/stamping surface.

how do you harden stitched leather

What are those colored bands on your stamps? I've seen them used by many, but don't know what it is, why it's used, or what they are made of.

Hi Leather Brother, OLD LEATHER SMITH here. Nice ideas Chuck. Please Excuse if U have covered this before, I noticed leather sticking out from under your Granite, have U covered putting something under a stamping stone?? Do U only use leather? Or do U use a hard rubber mat like I use?? I would be interested 2 know. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

One of my mentors used a layer of sand. The block is 4’ x 3’ x 4”. They used an engine block hoist to move the stone in place and left the straps in place under the stone. I am getting ready to set one also. The leather piece is a great idea. Will have to find a thick piece (12-16 oz range) my block is big but not like my friends block.

@@susantipsyhealy7655 I am a beginner and I learn a lot from watching Chuck's videos but hadn't noticed that the granite slab was laid on the leather. From reading your comments, I understand that we do not install the plate directly on the counter but on a support which absorbs the shock of the hammering. Also, do we have to wet the leather? thank you so much

@@susantipsyhealy7655 OLD LEATHER SMITH here. My stone is 4' x 3' x 4" also, I had it made 4 me, my neighbor and I moved it into position on a hard rubber mat on my bench which is made of 2" x 12" x 10' which I made. Always put something under your stone it protects against cracking leather, rubber, at least 1/4" thick. More Questions please ask. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

My only problem is that I'd have to spend $ 30,000 to have that selection of stamps. I could always buy four or so and run with it.
