Using the wax when punching holes has changed the game!! You've mentioned this before and this came in handy when working on my bowler. Although, by the time I got this information I was already halfway through the "40" holes that needed to be punched. My hands killed for a few days after this project.

Great trick - no duds. As a shoe maker, using lots of tiny nails: Wash nails with dish soap, spray with vinegar, allow to rust slightly. This makes the nails less slippery and pulls the leather more than brite nails.

Thanks for all the work you put into shooting and editing this video. This is a really comprehensive list. Finding good and thorough how-to's on the YT has been surprisingly difficult. I look forward to scrolling through your back catalogue. I fell into a leathercraft shaped rabbit hole over the Holidays. I'm finally at the point where I have enough vintage tools from the ebay to work on projects. Right now I'm working on an overly complicated tool roll for my leather-carving tools. I figure the best way to perfect my techniques is to work on some tool rolls and sheaths. Thanks for the inspiration... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Where did you find the red thread? I'm in an area that doesn't have much in the way of supplies. Also, what adhesives to you recommend if I wanted to double up leather on a face mask (so that I wouldn't have something that smells bad/strong). I need something forgiving in case I don't get it laid right the first time. Can I put wax directly on the leather if I don't have a paper pattern over it & have the marks on the leather?

If you us syringes for applying epoxy, like we do when building yachts, you can clean them with acetone and reuse them a couple of times. But I would rather use once and into the trash.
