Making the Leatherface mask. Thinking of making another cast and painting it up like the pretty woman mask. Anyways, happy with how this one turned out. :D

your welcome don't mention it :) I hate how smaller channels have some of the best editing and overall performance and get little to no recognition for it.

oh yeah Im sure it will because that is what you do and people want a homemade costume that is cheap and you can do outstanding costumes on the cheaper side. personally I would rather use one or your costumes and make it then spend 500 bucks on a cheap made costume that probably won't even fit next year.

Cool but why did you make it look both rotted and fresh?

Maybe for different parts of the mask starting to get old, maybe indicating different parts are from different victims ?

The only problem of this mask is the hair,it seem to curly and neat. The problem I have to face with making a Leatherface mask is that I'm not as skilled as you.

Do I add clear coat while clay is still fresh or do I wait for it to dry
@CostumeForge7 жыл бұрын
I would let it dry a little but not fully.

Beautiful mask man! Just one quick question. What type of plaster do you suggest to make a mold?
@CostumeForge5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you live in the UK I highly recommend 'Crystacal R Plaster' I know 'Hydrocal Plaster' is popular in the US. Both are very strong once cured.

How long do you let the sculpture sit before adding plaster, in other words, how dry does it need to be
@CostumeForge6 жыл бұрын
I like to let it dry just enough so that you can touch it without getting any on your finger. Just dont let it dry out too much or it will start to crack.
@DoritoChipz5436 жыл бұрын
Costume Forge thanks I really appreciate it, did u also add a gloss or clear coat too before adding plaster
@CostumeForge6 жыл бұрын
I didnt with this but I highly recommend that you do.
@DoritoChipz5436 жыл бұрын
Costume Forge also, do I add clear coat when clay is kind of dry or still wet?
@CostumeForge6 жыл бұрын
Dry. The clear coat will give you a cleaner mold with more detail.

what clay did you use?

I always use Scola Air Drying Clay. Its the cheapest option for me and I have never really had any problems with it.

What kinf of mold relese do u use
@CostumeForge5 жыл бұрын
I don't use mold release. All I do is use vasaline when making the other side of the plaster mold. I didn't do that in this vid as I was experimenting with metal shims.

What plaster do you use
@CostumeForge7 жыл бұрын
The slasher shadow 246 I use fine casting plaster but I wouldn't recommend that. It's a nightmare to work with, only 20% of my molds didn't break. I'd recommend Hydrocal or if you can't get any of that use Crystacal.

@@CostumeForge for tutorial purposes its fine. but you should have spent more time on the sculpture. simplicity is key to all art. i been doing this stuff for 10 years plus. but i think you rushed it. but if your skill level is still noob then its good.
