I've had a dozen different types of Leatherman tools over the last 30-odd years, and my all-time favourite is the Rebar - it's just the right size, not as pricy as a Wave or Surge, and has the best selection of tools for my particular needs. A couple of tips - the replaceable wire cutters on the Rebar will cut bike brake and gear cables, and you can't really do that with the integral wire cutters on the Bond etc. And I've found it useful to grind a little dimple with a Dremel tool into the rivet for the main knife blade and colour it red, so that I can tell it apart from the serrated blade, which I rarely use.

I have the basic Rebar. It has served me well over the past five years or so. I need new cutting teeth though. And yes, the most frustrating thing about my Rebar is always finding the wrong side when I'm looking for the knife.

@Jarrych83 Жыл бұрын
I have a rebar and have used some of the non-replaceable cutters on other leatherman. The Rebar ones absolutely cut string trimmer thread easier and quicker. I was also able to use the rebar to trim a Christmas tree before bringing it into the house, with the saw and wirecutters working great for various size branches, twigs, and new growth. The serrated safety blade is also the goddamn queen of plastic strap cutting on bigger packages and larger equipment that has those god-awful extruded plastic straps with barely enough wiggle room to get something under and sometimes scissors don't wanna get a good angle on. The thick flat head and can opener have absolutely been used a number of times for stubborn cat food cans and prying things like paint/stain lids. The awl gets used as a scraper for me and works beautifully for that. I'll second the comments about adding a pocket clip to the Bond and Rebar, for sure, but gotta say that the Rebar is the most "one and done" multitool out there for general use. For light duty stuff, the Bond seems pretty brilliant, but I love the size and usability of the rebar. I also love that the longer tools can be opened without pulling the handles all the way open.

@@PiLLO360my first wave was stolen. I thought I would upgrade with the Charge. The plier head has a crimper built in. It takes out half the gripping surface of the pliers. I use the pliers at work regularly. Main difference between the two is blade steel.(and preference)

I have the Knifeless Rebar and I love it. I don't have to worry about knife regulations and when I know I can have a knife in a building, I carry a good pocket knife, but I always have a Victorinox Rambler, since most people don't have a issue with a small knife with other tools. I didn't expect the Rebar to be able to do hard work, with starting 3-6 inch screws and it stays solid. The only downside is the Rebar has no optional belt clip, besides that it's perfect for me. Half the time I need a torx, square, or a longer reach and I would need a sheath for the bits and extension anyways. No pocket clip also means 1 less tool to cause I rip in my pocket or put wear on the edge of the pocket. If the 3 inch knife laws were less inforced in my area, I would want a Supertool 300 or a Surge, but cops either take them away, if they see it and possibly arrest you. Because I like to always have my Rebar on me, the Knifeless Rebar was a no Brainer. I just wish knife regulations in businesses and buildings were not a thing, in some of the buildings I go into. I am thankful Leatherman makes other options for people who have laws or restrictions that conflict with what you want or need to carry.

I use the piss out of my rebar cause im lazy and dont want to walk all the way back to the van or reach into my tool bag for a screwdriver or pliers at work. Going to do some wiring in my truck with it too. I dont think it needs anything it doesnt already have its a pretty handy tool. Dont get the black oxide its shit. It stained everything for like a month until i finally got all the excess shit off by using it and carrying it around staining my pockets on all my pants, my airpods case is now all gross looking, and parts of my rebar dont have any finish because it all rubbed off due to being applied extremely poorly. So some tools and pins and rivets are black and the others are steel looking. Get the stainless one
