This video answered all of my questions, Great explanation of this multi tool. I just ordered mine yesterday off of eBay for around $70. Very excited for it, I personally love the USA made quality of leather man. Can’t wait to use it as my EDC!!

Been carrying a sidekick for years but sadly lost it a few weeks ago. Grabbed a Free P2 on ebay the other day and hoping I'm happy with the switch. My personal preference is a full fine edge blade and I think I'm really going to miss the saw, but I'm also looking forward to having scissors on a multi-tool again. We'll see how the trade-off goes (and I haven't given up hope that I'll find that sidekick in a odd place at some point soon). Thanks for the review!

Not good that the Sidekick vanished but I think you will enjoy your Free P2!

The brand-new stuff on eBay, especially NIB/new-in-box stuff, at HALF price or 3/4 price, always makes me suspicious. How are they doing it? Where are the tools from? What is wrong with the tools? Are they returns from someone else? Are they stolen and fenced? Did the manufacturer dump them to a distributor cheap because they were a defective lot? Oh well, I am just venting here

I have heard other people explain it as the free series is so unpopular it is resold maybe after it is gotten as a gift, etc. After handling the free series I really like them. However some people really are not a fan of this design.

I love my Free P2. Very underrated by the fanboys on youtube, haha! I've had mine for three weeks and bought it for $70 and change on ebay. Yeah, the package opener isn't as good, as on my Rev but it works pretty well for scoring cardboard and cutting tape. As for the scissors, they're fine for cutting paper or pliable materials. The can opener is like a swiss style design with a more robust talon. I use the can openers regularly for canned vegetables and moist dog food. Unlike, the Victorinox style, the Free P2 is designed to cut clockwise. It will cut and puncture the lid counter clockwise but only for a little over halfway of the can's perimeter. After that it crimps the metal making it very hard to use and almost inoperable. The awl works well for having a flat, blunt point. Puncturing stubborn foil blister packs for allergy medication, leather, cloth, etc. Like yourself, I would prefer a plain edge but for cutting the occasional twine or rope that's okay. A knife blade makes a great letter opener too! I don't use the files on any of my multitools for filing metal. For nail repair and hygiene, its great. No complaints yet, Leatherman did well with this design, everyone is different. I'm not the pricky or whiny type so any Leatherman will do just fine for me!

Great Info! It's great to hear how people use their tools. I agree the P2 is a really good tool. To Me the Free series is like a Cadillac. It may be similar to a Chevy but it just seems better!

I think the price for what you get it it's all. that's a fair price for what you get.

For anyone worried about the magnets getting clogged up with metal chips, there is a KZbin video (I forget which channel) where the guy pours iron filings all over his LM Free and then finds that it seems to still work fine. I wish I remembered which channel but KZbin "magically" lost or deleted my previous comment that I just made so I am not going to mention any possible channel names in case the stupid algorithm deletes them or something.

I have had no issues so far. I really like the P2 far more than I thought I would.

@@hvacbudget8600 Agreed. I took the plunge on a P4 and I really enjoy it. It's a very enjoyable tool in its look and feel.

What a good multi tool that has a good working saw on it? I know they don’t all come with one. Can you recommend a good one?
@hvacbudget86002 жыл бұрын
For the mid size multitool, the Leatherman Rebar and the Leatherman Wave plus both have nice wood saws in a compact package. The Leatherman Supertool 300 and the Surge are great options in the Heavy duty class. For a more budget friendly option the Gerber Mp600 scout can be found fairly reasonable which has a jig saw adaptor that uses the older style wood saw blades. That is nice if you are one who repeatedly needs a sharp saw.

If you buy it on eBay, even if it’s brand new, do you still get the 25 year warranty?
@hvacbudget8600 Жыл бұрын
From what I understand it's an honor system. Leatherman will treat your tool like you bought it new from them when you turn it in for warranty. I've never had to turn in a tool yet, but that's how I understand it.
