In regards as to who's older of the "metal" snaps", maybe it's different manufactures, Ben; I have a 2018 sheath with "steel"/starred clasp, but three "2019-20" with "bronze"/plain clasps. I'm more fond of the bronze ones as the patina they get makes the sheath look really good, complementing the yellow lettering. All are still snapping tight, but thanks for the suggestion as it might come handy in the future.

I lost my leatherman because of the claps issue. Im replacing it with the black leatherman with the mollie case because it was on sale for the price of the silver one. Does a mollie case work on a belt as well?

@TXtoolcrib Mine has a clasp with stars around like your new one but has worn to bronzed like your old case. The snap is still tight though after a year or so of daily use

I made a leather sheath that holds the tool and one card but it has intageral belt loops and is way better that these but this is what came with my surge and I thought I'd give it a look

Actually I think you made it look better. When closed it looks like a primer and shotgun shell. Heck, there are people who use actual brass ends of a shotgun sell for adornments.

It really comes down to personal preference. I personally like the stainless version. I also really like the stainless version with black oxide tools. I think that one actually looks the sharpest.

I should have thought of that. Edit: I just checked it, it is bronze as well. So it is likely to encounter the same issue down the line. Then again, it may be stainless.

It is a shame that Leatherman has such a quality multi tool, BUT ALL (not most, ALL their holsters are worse than poorly thought out an built like crap. They need to try to have a company like Maxpedition build their holsters. The two side holders for items like the bit extentions, a sharpie, a AAA flashlight or a ferro rod should be closed on the bottom (so nothing can fall ouut). They should NEVER use elastic (they know it will prematurely wear out) and there should be a snap or velcro closure on the side compartments. And Leatherman uses garbage velcro. Also the bit and file/spare saw blade compartments should properly fit the accssories in the holsters!
