Good review, I have the the Super Tool 300 and a Wave, both are great very capable tools. While the Wave has a certain coolness to it the Super Tool 300 is a more robust tool, can't beat it for the money. The wave will handle most daily tasks but the Super Tool will handle heavier chores and they hold up well. I actually have an original Super Tool from the 90's and it works just as well as it did when new.

Great review. I picked up a Supertool 300 a few months back after losing my leatherman fuse to TSA which I had for years. The leatherman brand has proved to me to the standard. It is just hard not to have it close by to me. Nice channel and I will be sure to check out more of your videos :)

A bushcrafter's dream. That or the Surge. I like that it closes up, as Israel is very dusty most of the hiking season, and the SuperTool 300 stays cleaner. My Surge gets much more gritty in the tool bays. Ironically my SuperTool from 20+ years ago is still going strong. I'd love to see a SuperTool in the hands of every boy and girl who likes crafts, camping, whittling or working with their hands. Maybe the excellent Rebar, a smaller similar Leatherman, for the small-handed. Try it out with your troop. Cheers and thanks.

The Walmart by me has the supertool 300 on clearance for $79. The Wave is $90. I do not have a Leatherman but would like one. I think the Wave is easier to use with the blades on the outside, but I have no practical knowledge of this. If you spend a lot of time in the woods a tool like this will be used. When it is cold and/or wet the pliers will make short work out of getting a knot out of string/rope. Another great review Bryan. I appreciate your videos.

I also like though,it's in stainless,I love the slight recurve in the surges blade style, another KZbinr mentioned this,I thought it just be the stainless version that came this way,I like it wicked sharp out of the box,I've used it a bit,still pretty sharp,just some of my thoughts,also I believe the surge when closed,the edges on handles where cut outs for outer tools,I wished they kinda got coated like the charge,like g-10 as a cover,when I'm using the surge,outer tools an I squeeze the handle an use it for a while it does kinda hurt some what,could be a hot spot maybe,just some things I've noticed since I've had it.
@kennywheelus68572 жыл бұрын
Honestly I wished they made the other side of the handles more like the surge,also left the blade exchanger on there,other than that I mean I think it'd be better,glad I got my surge,oh, could've made blade steel like the charge s30vn

Nice review. Personally, I prefer the Wave. You can access the blades with one hand without opening the pliers. It doesn't have all the wire cutter options that this one has, but for my line of work and outdoor use that doesn't matter. Have you checked it out?

I like it. I think it's a bit overpriced for not having that nice diamond file other HD leathermans have, but the wire cutter competes with purpose-built wire cutters, combined with the rescue serrated knife it is an excellent rescue tool, and its size is nice because the market is full of weight winnie multi tools that just don't have the mass. The knives opening from the inside makes it more comfortable to use the tools, and less threatening.

Great review. I carry a Leatherman Wave right now daily. I was strongly considering this for my bushcraft kit but think I will get a Leatherman Rebar instead. It is a scaled down version I think of the Super Tool. To do it over again I would have bought this instead of the Wave. This one is heavier by an ounce but I like the function of it better. I am not a fan of the removable bits on the wave or the scissors.

great video, Bryan! I've been carrying multitools for the last 20 years and i love them! my first was an old gerber with the sliding plier head. what a crappy design! hahaha but i still have it and use it for the car. that looks like one useful tool! i carry a leatherman wave now every day for work. i like the knife blade position on the wave better. I've had multitools with the blade towards the back of the handle like it is on the super tool 300 and it's a dealbreaker for me, but that's just my personal preference. can't wait for the marathon!
@SurvivalOnPurpose10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe. I actually like my Gerber with the sliding head, except for the replaceable saw. it is not good. And I'm starting to second guess myself and wish I had bought the Wave. Oh well, Christmas is coming ;-) - Bryan
@joereardon559710 жыл бұрын
don't second guess yourself too much, Bryan :-) . every tool on that super 300 looks great. and the knife blade position is probably the same as the gerber with the sliding plier head that you had. my old gerber with the sliding head has the knife in the same position and it's where I realized I don't like it there, so, every other multitool I've bought had the knife in a better (for me) position (and I still carried that gerber for 18 years). I just carried a pocket knife with it. the wave is the first time I've had a multitool where I don't also carry a pocket knife and I love it but, mine cost me $67 and for the extra (sold separately) bit set, i'm in for close to $100 (I had better like it lol) now I looked it up and I've seen it going for $89. as much as I love mine, I could never recommend someone spending that much money on a tool unless they knew they would carry it and use it every day. I use mine everyday for work and if I lost it, I would gladly spend the money and get a new one, but that's only because I know i'll get my money's worth. if anybody reads the comments like I do and is reading this, if you're just putting it in a bug out bag or in your car, or if you don't usually carry one, you can get away with a much cheaper tool. the leatherman tools are just the highest quality. sorry I made this so long, Bryan lol. as always, I loved the video and I appreciated your response to my comment. - Joe
@SurvivalOnPurpose10 жыл бұрын
Great viewpoints, Joe. I'm not beating myself up, I actually took another look at the Wave and decided I made the best choice for me. You are absolutely right about carrying a knife. My Leatherman will probably never be my primary knife, so blade location is not as important. I just wanted a multi-tool for the versatility it offers. Thanks again. - Bryan

Uh well I kinda am "old" now. At least to the youngins. I don't carry a leatherman. it's more of a surface sailor thing. We have really strict rules about tools in aviation. I mean REALLY strict. But it's a pretty common sight to see one of those buggers on the belt of a veteran USN sailor.
