Hello! A lot of people have been loving the dog, and I appreciate it! However I’ll answer the question on what happened to the dog after being released. Despite how it probably seems, the husband didn’t kill the dog, but more so he didn’t make an effort to look for them. I didn’t think too beyond how the dog passed away, but I’d say the closest answer is that Mother Nature took its course. It could have been starvation, a failure to cross the river, or something. Although he was angered by them both escaping, he wasn’t willing to attack his dog. Luanne on the other hand was different, which would also explain why he stopped hitting her when the dog intervened. But that’s just my own take on it, anyone can interpret it however the please! But this is mainly for those wondering about it! Again, thank you for watching and hopefully enjoying this animatic!

I always felt there was an innate human fear that was associated with a dog growling at a person, so that's why I thought he stopped when the lab defended Luanne. In addition, it's said that some pets are so loyal to their owners that if their owner dies, then in this case the dog, heartbroken, also "dies" of a broken heart. Luanne was obviously loyal to Labby because she stayed behind with him, like Labby was the one thing tying her there. In addition, lab retrievers are bred to BE loyal, which is why there is no fear in them if they are protecting their owners. It could just simply be that Labby was so loyal to Luanne that he followed her into death.

A little detail in this song I love - The implication is that her own bastard isn't the only man Luanne takes down. The final verse references multiple people - "So the bastards will never sleep again" and "She drags their souls down to hell" - with that leading to the idea of Luanne avenging not only herself, but other abuse victims. She's chained to the plane of life itself, and God (loving her) is letting her be the vessel of freedom for others. Hence, a lasting Caution to men to not act like that, lest Luanne appear at their side next.

I like to believe that Luanne didn't drown, but her husband beat her so much when he found her after escaping that he killed her. He didn't want to tell people that he killed her so he threw her back into the water and told everyone who asked what happened to her that she drowned herself.

Personally I feel like there would have been more implications for that to have been what happened, also it would make sense that she would rather drown herself since based on how the Bastard acts he would have probably beat and abused her terribly to the point of near death or death so she took her own life instead.

In the other animatics I've seen Luanne is a lot more emotional and sadistic at times. In this version the dog plays a role and a great role at that. Luanne is seen to be a little more headstrong and stronger willed than in other versions. She screams at her husband while she enacts her revenge and is not happy in the end but she doesn't feel guilty either. It's hard to feel empathy for those who have harmed you and she demonstrates her hatred for him pretty well. Amazing all around and love the idea of using the dog

Thank you! Thats the general idea. I myself am a very empathetic person, but even I know that in some cases you can’t just accept the things that happened. At least not completely. Now, Jacky, I understand the guilt one can feel for something that was not done by oneself, but please remember you're not responsible for the relationship they had, it was not your fault, it was not because of you, please, don't feel guilty for it, you're not the product of a horrible relationship, you're the proof, the proof of your mother's bravery.

LYRICS: Luanne's fat lip is drying, The bastard's bacon frying, The shiner on her eye's gone bust and bleeding. He shouts, "Girl, set the table!" But he knows she ain't able. Her arm's done broke, Hung limp like yolk, And softly she's repeating... "Leave, Luanne. Why don't you march out that door? Southern woman, he ain't no good to you. Leave, Luanne. Louisiana wants war, But it's you dying on her ruby plains." And yet, loyal Luanne remains. Ever since he got him laid off, His sanity's just made off. No, he was never nice, but now he's cruel. He rapes her, and he beats her, She don't 'fess how he treats her, 'Cause a Bible verse Says it won't get worse, And she won't be a fool. "You won't never leave, Luanne, 'Cause if you walk out that door His truck will be gunning for you. No, you won't leave, Luanne, Or he'll give you 'What for?' You got heart where you should have had brains." And so, loyal Luanne remains. Someone's howling, Screams like sighing with battered breath Grating, growling, Never dying In a fate worse than death. But months of such conditions Turn laymen to logicians And tonight the bastard's sleeping like a log. So she plucks the kitchen cleaver, Creeps up toward his roped-up lab retriever, And she cuts the rope, And hope on hope, She starts to shout, "Your dog's got out!" She's got her chance. With no back glance She runs out to the bog, Screaming, screaming: "Leave, Luanne!" "Leave, Luanne. You've got a life left to live In a house hanging off the Golden Coast! Leave, Luanne. You won't forget nor forgive, " And she don't feel the stings, the rips, and scrapes As finally Luanne escapes. Swim, Luanne! Swim, Luanne! And in the swamp of beeches, Oh, as the preacher preaches, As the light In the night Holds through the marsh and brushes As the blood inside you rushes Left and right, Hold on tight- -Until you reach the bank And you crawl onto the bank, 'Til you feel a little yank on your hair And, stricken, stare at the bastard Who beat you there. The bastard lies in bed now, Half-sad his wife is dead now. She drowned herself in a swamp in wild despair. He thinks he used to love her, But push it came to shove her, A wife disposed, A life case closed, And no one seems to care, To grieve Luanne. Now no one's on his shoulder, But his mattress don't feel colder, And in fact, it's hellish hot, and the air is dank and steaming. Yet his body starts to shiver When the window cracks a sliver And a fiery fog From the miry bog Pours in the room In a sticky gloom And there the man Sees dead Luanne. He's terrified, But he keeps his pride, 'Cause he knows that he ain't dreaming. And he starts screaming, "Leave, Luanne. Hell sent you back here for more, 'Cause ain't no one ever loved you." But said Luanne, "I've come to settle a score, " And she shows him her feet are bound in chains. And loyal Luanne remains And remains And remains And remains! Someone's howling, Screams like sighing With battered breath. Grating, growling, Never dying In a fate worse than death. Luanne, She cries her miserable wail So the bastards will never sleep again! No, no reprieve, Luanne, She brings their souls down to hell, A caution to the cruelest of men: God loves Luanne! Praised be! Amen!

My town actually has a legend REALLY Similar to ‘leave Luanne”, except the legend is called “Sarah Warren” (Warren is a common name, so it’s hard to pin which Warren clan Sarah was from) Sarah married a Warren man, the story says either Josiah or Abe (different people use different names, I personally believe it was the third option of Daniel), but regardless of version the story makes sure you know that the Warren man was a BAD GUY. Gambled, drank, beat Sarah, raped her, and beat their children as well. Basically the worst dude u could ever be married to. Well… Sarah snapped. She poisoned the man, killed the children and then ran into the corn fields around their house once she regained her mind and realized she had killed her children (not too hung up about her husband, but she loved the kids so she was a bit sad about that). The man’s brother or cousin (story differs, name is never said) then curses Sarah’s grave and doesn’t give her a Christian burial for her actions. Then Sarah’s ghost haunts her old home and drags any abusive husband to Hell to suffer alongside her husband. The story never really says how she died, but it implies pretty heavily that the brother or cousin killed her

I also thinks it represents kind of a freedom, like when her hair was in the bun it was when his controlling was at its best but in the low pony she was starting to think about leaving more, then when her hair was down she finally left. I just love that representation❤️

Anyone else notice the the double entendre of the line "who beat you there"? Also I find it interesting the husband thinks she was sent from hell to be tortured by him in death and then just gets completely wrecked because it's very clear that Luanne was a devout Christian and innocent. "Like seriously man? You think that's where she went? Oh no you have a front row seat to torture town, idiot! Karma!" Was along my train thought.

My headcanon is that this song was written by her family to honor her memory, and a few days after she died, the bastard’s house burned down, and he died. The song was passed down and was edited to make it feel like Luanne got her revenge, for that’s how they saw her, and it’s been decades since she died, her family perform this song sometimes, and it gets spread out to others to honor her. In the ruins of the house, a memorial dedicated to Luanne and the dog. (The bastard has a grave miles away from it)

2:47 When Luanne runs out to the bog and the part where the music swells "LEAVE LUANE!!!" it literally makes me cry every single time. So much raw emotion and pain that's so expressionistic and amazing to capture, especially in an animatic! Well done :')

Holy crap. I love this so much! I mean, the sheer dedication it takes to make a seven-minute animatic is insane. Plus, I love your art style, and you portrayed Luanne’s story in such an amazing way. I especially loved his the dog was incorporated in so many parts of the animatic. I just can’t explain how amazing it is! You’ve just earned yourself a new subscriber.

CAN WE APPRECIATE THIS MASTERPICE??? I'm excited because i can't find a lot edits for leave Luanne. I usually find more for tbosb (the ballad of Sara Berry) which also is a spectacular song but i really wanted to see Luanne's story from other prespective and this is spectacular. I never imagined that the dog can play a so important role ( the dog is arleady important bc he is the reason Luanne escaped.) But the part where Luanne saw how her life will be if the bastard wouldn't catch her make me really emotional because she deserved better! The whole animatic made me scream the lyrics because i was so enthousiastic to see the end. Luanne watch the bastard burn with the dog besides her and how the dog go to Luanne at the end is so savage! Pls never stop making animatics because you have a unique way to show us the story, loved your artstyle! To everyone here if you are in Luanne's place pls escape as fast as you can!!! Have a nice day, sorry for my English and greetings from Greece!

Honestly while making this I was lip-syncing so I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! 35MM does some amazing stuff, and though not as common as Sara Berry, this song has a powerful message or at least a powerful story. Happy you enjoyed it, and I hope you have a lovely day as well !

i just wanna say that this is absolutely amazing and i love how you only showed the bastard's face when it was like, a key moment for his facial expression to be shown!! like, it really makes the moments where you can see his eyes hit harder and i love how you did that!!!

As much as the other animations are amazing, this one really takes top place. I love how you really brought the dog along, and how you portrayed her emotions so well! Oh my goodness this made me cry but it’s so lovely. Amazing job!

I must admit, this has to be one of the best Animatics I've seen done on this song yet! The facial expressions are incredibly well done! not to mention the fact that I had a much easier time understanding the story-telling aspect of the song though the choice of action and the better incision of the dog, lovely work!

I love how when she finally leaves the strand that's always in her face no longer is. It's even in color as apposed to the black and white she ajusted to when living with her husband. It's nice way to show that she becomes happier and even more confident in herself.
@CeruleanTrafficlight3 жыл бұрын
I really love some of the shots you pulled off here, particularly in that perspective flip when Luanne's spirit reappears! I'd also assumed that the dog coming back symbolized the passage of time, as in she kept him chained there "a dog's age", just as she had been trapped in that house with her abuser for far too long.

OMG. I came to this video looking for copper and I found gold. You are incredible, I hope to see more animatics of yours soon.

I must say I never given much thought to the dog, and kinda assumed it was always on the husband's side. So the addition of him as an ally to Luanne in life and death really struck a cord with me. I figured the husband didn't kill him (probably cared for him more than he did for Luanne), but thank you for clarifying. When I envisioned the song, I always pictured the swimming part in the moment (just saw her swimming, maybe taking in the nature around her), but I like your take of her daydreaming of dancing and meeting a new (better) man and just being happy and joyful.

What was the real reason the house caught on fire? I think that it was the truck. The bastard used the truck to find Luanne, but he forgot to shut off the engine. The carbon monoxide went out of the engine and into the room. Luanne, however, made the engine run again.

Does anybody else think it's bullshit that Luanne "drowned herself"? I've heard that it's pretty hard to drown yourself, so what I think happened was her husband was so pissed with Luanne that he was like "If you love that bog so much, why don't you stay there?!" as he drowns her himself.

*I like to imagine that the man singing is an old storyteller. He goes town to town telling the story of “luanne” as a warning to abusive spouses. He makes it known that they shall be punished* *But on a lighter note,this is very good! You’re so talented!*
@Tracy-r1o3 ай бұрын
I ADORE this song. At the start “leave Luanne” is good for her but the last one at the end would be good for him and “loyal Luanne remains” is the exact opposite throughout the song showing just how the turns have tabeled
