I have the feeling that the narrator may be God. Like, the person who’s singing is God who gave Luanne a second chance to punish her cruel husband. Now, He’s singing her tale to all cruel men (frankly, I like to also believe that it also means abusers in general), warning them that if they preform such abusive acts, they will also experience a similar fate to Luanne’s husband.

What’s sad is that this song is not to far off from victims of actual domestic abuse. Their abusers will kill them if they do not get out of there. When someone who is supposed to love you puts their hands in you, they don’t love you. One time is enough.
@Snowapplyby2 жыл бұрын
To the best of my current (and admittedly jaded) knowledge the entire point is a victims POV. First hand sorta, like first but with an accompanying orchestra and chorus singers. @queenthings84304 жыл бұрын
It’s so cool how even the music plays into Luanna emotions. Like, there are parts where Luanna is just about to get her freedom or finally has it and that’s where the female voice chimes in, almost to say that she can finally have her own voice too. In the first part it only really cuts off when she’s caught, which means that she’s back to becoming silenced again. This might be a stretch but, in the river scene where she’s absolutely happy to have been free, you can almost hear how the female voice overpowers the male one, up until the point where she reaches the shore and is caught. Right there the female voice ends and only comes back when she’s a ghost. When Luanna reappears as a ghost the female voice begins again and starts to overpower once more (especially so when she hits that one note and gets into the groove of things). The last part always gives me goosebumps.

heyy so i got lyrics if you would like them:) Luanne's fat lip is drying, The bastard's bacon frying, The shiner on her eye's gone bust and bleeding. He shouts, "Girl, set the table!" But he knows she ain't able. Her arm's done broke, Hung limp like yolk, And softly she's repeating... "Leave, Luanne. Why don't you march out that door? Southern woman, he ain't no good to you. Leave, Luanne. Louisiana wants war, But it's you dying on her ruby plains." And yet, loyal Luanne remains. Ever since he got him laid off, His sanity's just made off. No, he was never nice, but now he's cruel. He rapes her, and he beats her, She don't 'fess how he treats her, 'Cause a Bible verse Says it won't get worse, And she won't be a fool. "You won't never leave, Luanne, 'Cause if you walk out that door His truck will be gunning for you. No, you won't leave, Luanne, Or he'll give you 'What for?' You got heart where you should have had brains." And so, loyal Luanne remains. Someone's howling, Screams like sighing with battered breath Grating, growling, Never dying In a fate worse than death. But months of such conditions Turn laymen to logicians And tonight the bastard's sleeping like a log. So she plucks the kitchen cleaver, Creeps up toward his roped-up lab retriever, And she cuts the rope, And hope on hope, She starts to shout, "Your dog's got out!" She's got her chance. With no back glance She runs out to the bog, Screaming, screaming: "Leave, Luanne!" "Leave, Luanne. You've got a life left to live In a house hanging off the Golden Coast! Leave, Luanne. You won't forget nor forgive, " And she don't feel the stings, the rips, and scrapes As finally Luanne escapes. Swim, Luanne! Swim, Luanne! And in the swamp of beeches, Oh, as the preacher preaches, As the light In the night Holds through the marsh and brushes As the blood inside you rushes Left and right, Hold on tight- -Until you reach the bank And you crawl onto the bank, 'Til you feel a little yank on your hair And, stricken, stare at the bastard Who beat you there. The bastard lies in bed now, Half-sad his wife is dead now. She drowned herself in a swamp in wild despair. He thinks he used to love her, But push it came to shove her, A wife disposed, A wife case closed, And no one seems to care, To grieve Luanne. Now no one's on his shoulder, But his mattress don't feel colder, And in fact, it's hellish hot, and the air is dank and steaming. Yet his body starts to shiver When the window cracks a sliver And a fiery fog From the miry bog Pours in the room In a sticky gloom And there the man Sees dead Luanne. He's terrified, But he keeps his pride, 'Cause he knows that he ain't dreaming. And he starts screaming, "Leave, Luanne. Hell sent you back here for more, 'Cause ain't no one ever loved you." But said Luanne, "I've come to settle a score, " And she shows him her feet are bound in chains. And loyal Luanne remains And remains And remains And remains! Someone's howling, Screams like sighing With battered breath. Grating, growling, Never dying In a fate worse than death. Luanne, She cries her miserable wail So the bastards will never sleep again! No, no reprieve, Luanne, She brings their souls down to hell, A caution to the cruelest of men: God loves Luanne! Praised be! Amen!

I remember when I met her, after her class there was a bunch of little girls (5th-6th grade) and they told her LITERALLY: We don't like nice boys, we want boys who treats us like shit. As someone, who had toxic relationships before I've tried to explain them how easily they could "be Luanne". They didn't really cared about my saying. I've tried to help them at least. I just wanted to say...if you are in a toxic relationship right now...don't forget: -You're valid ❤️ -You're stronger than you think 🧡 -Never give up hope 💛 -You're not alone 💚 -One day you will be free 💙 -And THAT BASTARD MAN OR WOMAN DOESN'T DESERVE YOU 💙💚🧡❤️💓💜💖💕💗💘♥️💞🤎🤍❣️

This song reminds me of a story. I once had a friend, or not a friend, who I met on the internet (KZbin, specifically) who would always requested for me to draw pictures. If I refused, he would type in a harmful action like beating me up with a ruler. It always hurt on the inside. A *lot.* He always said that he didn't mean it, but I knew damn well that he did because he was horrible. He was very mean and forceful about everything and always acted like he was superior to everyone. I wanted to back out of the relationship, but whenever I tried, he'd pull my back in and cause worse and worse mental harm to me each time. Then I finally gained the courage to break free without him knowing. That toxic relationship really taught me something and I'm glad it's over a year later. Darn, freedom feels nice. This song really speaks out to me. (And not to mention, I LOVE this art style.)

I like that the song goes from saying luanne will remain loyal from the way it emphasizes the words, then to at the end where the emphasis changes and makes her loyal luanne, and basically says she won’t ever leave

I love this. You did an amazing job--your animatic totally does this song justice! I love the way you drew this! I thought it was a cool artistic decision how you had that second Luanne advising her/pointing to the truck around 1:35. I think you captured the emotions of the whole song really well!

It's a bittersweet catharsis to know that Lou Anne got a chance to 'settle the score' while still being loved by God because of the choices she made to try and get her freedom. You'd think vengeful spirits would be the opposite of what God wants but this feels apropos.

when she said "Your dogs got out" it just shows that he allowed her to have nothing,because if your married you would share half of your spouses things but the use of 'your' instead of 'our' just shows how cruel he was.

"His truck will be gunning for you." With the amount of physically abusive pickup drivers (Usually hetero dudes with a drinking problem) I believe it. Luanne deserved so much better, but God literally backed her so I say her coming back to torment assholes is a power move.

This song kept being so unexpected like I thought that she was gonna kill the husband or the dog but then she didn’t and then I thought she was gonna kill herself but then she was just swimming but then she did kill herself and thank you for spending the time to animate this dear artist person so I could enjoy and appreciate this song as well as your art.

The more I watch this and listen to the lyrics, I start to wonder if he drowned her and someone found her and that's why Luanne came back to kill him or If she had actually drowned herself, there was no dog or knife and he didn't do anything to her and she never reached the bank, but he saw her run and jump, but didn't go after her and that's how he found out she died so, when Luanne comes back, it's in the form of guilt for not stopping her

the second one implies that the bastard actually has a conscience and I absolutely refuse to believe that also kinda fun fact in some live performances of this song they add the line "they say" before "she drowned herself"

I love how at the end there's flames and blood and everything on luanne when she's haunting her abusive husband, it's almost like a scene out of hell. But at the very end, when he goes up in flames, there's angelic yellow light and she smiles liek a scene from heavan. idk i just think it's neat. there's symbolism there or smth.

This is a wonderful animatic! In the end, when Luanne sends the bastard to hell, it felt great. As a victim of an abuser, that was the most satisfied I've felt in a while. Wonderful work!
@ieatshortpeople32514 жыл бұрын
Here's a theory I made : maybe sara berry is a reincarnation version of luanne .because here it showed that she went to "hell" because you killed herself so she sended her husband to hell after all the pain and suffer,god gave her another chance at life with a rich and healthy family, but soon her dad starts getting abusive and because of that she tried to boost her confidence cause she didnt wanna end up like before but at prom is was her last straw so she took it out of her system and killed 6 girls and when she had her crown she realized what she had done but that was just around the cops came and then she went to a asylum realizing she had become the thing she hated the most. Not a real fact just a theory I made
@arir.65643 жыл бұрын
My interpretation is that she kills herself at "finally Luanne escapes" and the happy music is her finally being free and going to heaven. The yank on her hair is her body being found on the bank.

The ending left me rather confused...at least, in terms of the song lyrics. I have a strong suspicion that the Bastard beat Luane to death for trying to escape. As such; why would she be in Hell, as HE claims?
@elcat25774 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming he did beat her to death and him say he'll sent her back for more was his own thought processes and not what really happened. As she sent him and assuming others from the lyrics to hell at the end.
@becky65054 жыл бұрын
I assume that because she wants to take revenge and drag him to hell she is at the very least unable to get into heaven. After all, in Christianity taking revenge is rather frowned upon. But I like to imagine that after she got her revenge she was able to go to heaven and rest in peace regardless :)
@lupusthebitch70594 жыл бұрын
It says that she drowned herself. In Christianity that’s seen as a sin. Tough there is also a connotation that when it says “she drowned herself” it really means that he drowned her to keep her quiet/drowned her out of rage. If that’s the case, no idea why she’s in hell, it could just be that she’s become a messenger of hell, someone who drags those condemned into the fiery pits as a torture.
@elcat25774 жыл бұрын
@@lupusthebitch7059 i dont think she's in hell though. also she didn't drown herself he killed her and then she came and sent him to hell. The song says "a caution to the cruelest of men" and also "god loves Luanne" so the safe assumption is that it now get job for her to take abusers to hell.
@ChizuruAotsuki4 жыл бұрын
The implication is that The Bastard beat her to death and/or drowned her and that was her cover story. Then she comes back as a God-appointed avenging angel for herself and other abused women, dragging "the cruelest of men" down to hell where they belong.
