Nobody can tell me that the entertainment business doesn’t put some sort of strain onto a 9 year old kid. It’s almost as if she has a sort of Stockholm disorder with her older adult figures.

Sometimes it is VERY important for a journalist to not rush to publish, and public pressure both on traditional journalists and now on social media creators to instantly react and report has caused a LOT of misinformation and other harms. It's so good and important that she takes her time and does thorough research. That's part of why she is highly regarded and seen as more of a journalist rather than a drama influencer. She takes it seriously and that includes not rushing it.

I've written journalism for newspapers where the bulk of my work was also just interviewing people and reporting what they said. That's journalism. Furthermore, she certainly behaves more like a good journalist ought to than a lot of professionals whose job title is literally technically "journalist", like Nancy Grace, or Fox News in general. For example, she fact checks her work, she doesn't just make false claims. The only thing that makes her not a journalist by job title is really is medium; she doesn't work for a news publication, she "self publishes" on YT. If she did the exact same type of reporting formatted for an MSNBC show, she'd be a journalist by job title. The reason she isn't is because the job title of a youtuber is "youtuber" or "content creator" even if their content is very much journalistic reportage. It's definitely not the exact same as every commentary channel. When Jarvis Johnson reacts to Troom Troom, he isn't conducting interviews and fact checking documents. Some commentary videos probably would be considered journalism and documentary if it wasnt for the fact they're on youtube rather than TV. As well as some stylistic differences and whatnot.

I do feel frustrated that a part of her doc did not focus on Oliver and his story, but also as someone who has followed swoop for so long I also know the quality and the amount of work that goes into her videos so I am happy to wait for her to make that video, and I know that she will still make it someday. Oliver does deserve to be platformed. He deserves to be given the same level of respect and care as the other victims. And I can also understand that Oliver’s story is likely more triggering for swoop given her own trauma related to sexual grooming so I can imagine that it makes it so much more emotionally taxing to work on that content. Especially after the huge emotional blow of being used by John. She even says in the video how emotionally drained she is and that’s so fair. She has to take care of herself first and foremost.

She's currently got: 8 Passengers, Blair/iiluminaughtii, The Idaho Murders, and now Colleen all in the cooker right now that we know of (If Tim Ballard isn't on her list I'd be shocked). Since Colleen cooled down and 8 passengers heated up made sense to put one aside and do the other since she does live on content and clicks so logically following the current trends keeps people coming back. I seriously doubt she's going to never publish Oliver and the other Colleen messes she just needs a break from that toxic gossip train.

I'll be honest, I know John messed things up and told Oliver's story without consent. I have so much love and respect for Swoop, and I can only imagine how difficult her job truly is. I'm just kind of confused how John ruined it to the point where Oliver's interview couldn't be included. I mean, it was proven the lies that John told and we all want to hear from Oliver's perspective. I feel she could've definitely included the interview still, but I do get 1.) how triggering a story like that must be for Swoop 2.) I have no idea how editing these docs work so there is a possibility that it couldn't genuinely be added in, but I do fail to see how 3.) She might possibly be adding it in the future. I believe vangelina interviewed Oliver which is fantastic, and allows other creators and their perspectives on the matter to be told. I love Swoop. I’ve been watching her since the Gabby Petito case (so about 2 yrs) and haven’t missed a video since. Those deep dives involve SO MUCH WORK, and I can only imagine how difficult it would be to decide what gets included, and what doesn’t make it into the video. She’s an amazing woman who puts a lot of main stream media journalists to shame (with only 2 other staff members, not an entire crew like the big tv channels get), and anyone who thinks they can do better…go on, do it. Try. If you can’t do better, then keep your trap shut. She does her best, and it’s literally impossible to make everyone happy.

It’s kind of disappointing for people to see a second channel vid mini update and rip into it for not being what they wanted in the doc. The ext huge docs she puts out might not be the Ballinger saga right now, but I’m sure it’s still an area with a lot more to dive into. I feel like something forgotten in Part 3 is her touching on the literal grooming ring John and Tim had/have going and that’s concerning plus John still having people devoted to him enough to go directly to Swoop and ask her not to cover him and their “context” just made what e was doing worse. That’s something he can’t sit on to let it be discovered while she’s putting out other parts and it overshadows EVERYTHING that comes out until she addresses it. All people will do is question her motives for not calling out the predator masquerading as a victim and then picking apart everyone else and Swoop’s motives to keep pushing them when there are so many holes she’s “ignoring.” And that’s one of the things it felt like the purpose of pushing off the Josh’s interview and putting out the John story was. I think it was a smart move BECAUSE it closed the book on Johnny instead of making him the ghost haunting everything and hurting her credibility and calling everyone that seeks her out into question and how thorough she actually is being as opposed to her reputation for being thorough. John had his shit aired for everyone to see and the book was closed on him. Joshua got to tell his story that no one gave him the chance to before. What I also think happens in term of the Ballinger saw of docs here is that it refocused everything back on the Ballingers. It brought things back around to Colleen, the people around her, and what she enabled. We got an actual good example of someone taking accountability instead of demanding it without really having a bar set. So instead of anything going forward being overshadowed by not addressing John and letting it bring down everyone involved, Swoop nipped that in the bud. The stage though, it’s been set so that when there is a next part (I have faith there will be but I understand needing a break from the subject for now) can give the focus Oliver and others victimized by Trent deserve. I definitely understand why it frustrating to Oliver, he sees other people around him being ears, getting support in response, singing Swoop’s praises, waiting or t to be his turned then someone else is allowed to cut in line and take his place. That’s not his fault, yes Swoop made a voice to push his story back and unfortunately I think it was a necessary move. It’s not fair to Oliver but I also don’t think that is unfairness of Swoop, I think it’s the unfairness of a situation sparked by an asshole that has made victims of his own and tried to appropriate all of your (including Oliver’s) stories and tell lies. I think Oliver’s story is on that deserves to be in a main channel doc. It’d take a while. I don’t know what the depths of research there might still be to do on Trent or the rest of the Ballingers, but I think it completely unfair to act like the only reason was Swoop ignoring Oliver because his story wasn’t “good” or “entertaining” enough. Jut because it’s not coming out right now or next doesn’t mean t never happening. John could’ve sunk everyone if left unchecked at a time when people were starting to turn back to look at him thinking “hey wait a second…” and it’s hard to swallow that. It’s. rough choice but to give a story the attention it deserves, it also needs to be old without allowing it to be overshadowed by it else is going on.

Obviously it’s not swoops fault, she’s been working constantly on all the colleen Ballinger stuff and put in a lot of time, effort and work into her videos. But I think it’s so sad that Oliver’s story seems to often be brushed over or pushed to the side or seen as ‘not as important’, I understand why he feels hurt and let down and that’s completely valid, that’s extremely frustrating and emotionally exhausting to go through and I hope he gets justice and that someone will give him the opportunity to properly express himself and the trauma he went through. It’s not solely on swoop to give that to him( and ppl should leave swoop alone), but it’s sad that no one really has given him the chance to properly (in detail) talk about this stuff, it seems like most other peoples stories have been fully covered and he’s brushed to the side when his story is just as important as anyone else’s. I really feel awful for him having to deal with this all like I feel very frustrated for him, and have through all this always kinda felt ‘but what about Oliver’ since even when he’s there for interviews its overshadowed by others (like Johnny) or only briefly summarised. I do feel he’s been done dirty through a lot of this but that’s not the fault of swoop or Adam or others covering this..but like damn, poor Oliver.

I cant imagine the amount of stress she has been through working on this, and the amount of pain that must have caused her. I feel a lil bad for Swoop, and I hope her second channel works out. A lot of her old content seemed more fun and not carefree, but less burdened by the weight of being a big source. Between this and her 8 Passengers content, she's made it into mainstream media as a reputable investigative source. I'm glad she's being responsible with the influence she has, but I wish people would give her more grace for the responsibility that's being asked of her.

Swoop has done so much to inform all of us about the thing Colleen, the Balinger family, Cory, etc has done to their victims. We SHOULD uplift Oliver's story, but we can do that without attacking Swoop, who has and still is trying to put everyone's story out there. I feel like the 4th docu series about Josh was very important because everyone thought Johnny was a victim, but he lied about so many things that can entirely jeopardize the validity of this entire situation. This is NOT Swoops situation, but she's still doing her best to publicize this. You can criticize her journalism, but do not criticise her character just because she is trying to investigate and get every story straight. Yes, I am biased cuz I love Swoop. But, even if I didn't, I don't think it's fair to attack someone who's listening to the victims. At this point, people are making fun of Colleen, but attacking Swoop. This is ridiculous

Adam, I had a cat who loved to scratch my carpet (& the couch) I got a carpet covered (proper carpet) strong cat post (used a pine wood post & flat wood boards), covered it in the carpet (u can also buy these but way cheaper to make) and then sprayed with like a cat nip spray to entice my 1 naughty kitty to scratch the F outta those posts and boards. I also got those heavy duty cardboard floor scratchers that you sprinkle cat nip in and she went ham on that which meant replacing it often *but* no more clawing the carpet in the house. I also got free off cuts of carpet from flooring stores & popped it around the unit I was in in small squares and sprayed (carefully so as not to touch my real carpet) with the cat nip like spray and she had those as well as the post and cardboard thingy. I also found hard plastic corners for the couch that are made to prevent pets clawing at them. They weren't expensive at all. So I kinda "kitty proofed" my place and the naughty kitty barely ever touched the real carpet ever again and *loved* the carpet post/climber we made her. (It cost about $50.00 Australian so about £25.00 to make). These you can put around your apartment so Milo knows what's his to be on and used. Sprinkling cat nip or spraying other cat loving products on them helps them get attached to the objects and you can always have these forever. If one gets totally effed up, just make another or buy another cardboard scratcher or off cut piece of carpet. I also used off cuts from carpet stores to *cover* my good carpet around the home so it was like a cheap rug, so if pets had an accident or effed it up, I could clean it and pop back or throw away and get more and then *never* eff up my landlords carpets. Just some tricks I've picked up over the years. Sorry that was so long - lol 😂🩵🖤😀

I think it’s more that Oliver was interviewed by Swoop to later find out that interview wouldn’t be shown. It seems like she didn’t communicate with Ollie. She doesn’t owe viewers anything but it’s wrong that she interviewed Oliver and didn’t check in with him about it. And then she posted those screenshots of their personal conversation which was disappointing. Two things can be true at once: Swoop makes great videos and I’ve enjoyed her coverage of this story. But she made an error here. People aren’t outraged because they are wanting more from her. It’s because she wasn’t fair in her treatment to Oliver. She should have spoke to him privately when she knew she would not be posted the interview. She doesn’t owe us a reason but she was not respectful to someone who took the time to answer her questions and believed his story would he told.

Defamation is ALOT easier to prove with a private citizen than a public figure. So it is risky. And without the time to do in depth research, it would be so irresponsible to post the interview. After what happened with Johnny, that sounds like a quick and easy way to catch a defamation lawsuit. But as far as informing Oliver goes. I don’t know what the original agreement was but I’ve interviewed people for documentaries, articles, and books and sometimes you can’t include the interview or are just interviewed for additional context. If she said “I will be posting your interview in it’s entirety in my doc” that’s one thing, if not… unfortunately that is just how interviewing dozens of people for a compilation of information works. Maybe expectations weren’t properly set? But I assume if there were any written correspondence, Oliver would likely have that for review.

So ik Swoop wasn't the only one saying Johnny was sus, but anyone who wants to act like her episode didn't bring it to the forefront of the conversation is lying. We may not have asked for that episode, but it needed to happen. Same for the Joshua David Evans episode, he hadn't really had any other platform, so it makes sense that she platformed him. I feel for the other victims but at the same time, they had other people platforming them, and it's not like Swoop is cutting them out. For anyone who wants to demand more episodes or a certain schedule, like calm down. You wouldn't expect Netflix or Hulu to come out with a documentary within a couple of weeks, why should Swoop, who arguably has less funding/staff/resources? Part 4 was over 4hrs long, and even then she's saying things she really wanted in there were cut, this is a miniseries level of work for a major platform, and yall are demanding her team of 3 crank em out? I guess I can’t speak for everyone, but I have never seen a Swoop documentary that I didn’t enjoy, and feel I got all the information. And I may be wrong about this, but I thought in the beginning, Oliver didn’t really want to speak publicly. But he was lifted up and his story was told thru Swoop. I just thought he was a little more shy than the others and didn’t want to be on video at the time. As far as Johnny, the documentary with him is obviously full of half truths or lies, but it was still important to see him in the moment and to hear what he said, and then he was called out afterwards by Swoop. As he should be!! Swoop is wonderful!!!! She is only a human with a small team. I think her docs are better than most on Netflix or other channels. ❤❤Love to you Adam!!!

I will say people forget that not only was this whole project emotionally exhausting, but Swoop has fibromyalgia (debilitating chronic pain and fatigue) AND Oliver’s story is likely the most triggering from her past traumas. I've followed Swoop for ages (4 years, maybe more, damn im getting old). I enjoyed her content back then, the makeup, the messing with her friends, the short films, but it has been a joy to watch her evolve into a creator that speaks with such precision, who so clearly has found her voice and her power. Her videos come across so effortless that i think a lot of people forget how dedicated she is and how much work and care she puts into every single aspect of what she posts. I remember from her old vlogs that there is so much more that goes into all of this than any of us see. We get to sit here, look pretty, and take it all in for an hour or 2, while her and her team go off to make the next one. I feel like youtubers that cover serious topics/internet relevant topics are being policed more and more on covering the "right" thing, covering it quick enough or slow enough to be respectful and with the "right" perspective. How people are posting has become this moral implicator. Like yall relax, she's got it, trust and believe haha. We'll hear her thoughts when we get there.

i feel like people saying you talk too much about it or you 'won't move on' don't understand how going through trauma works for some people. i was raised in an abusive household, which is a different situation entirely, but it is my personal trauma. and i genuinely find it interesting to recount my time in that situation now that i'm out of it. it offers me so much healing and introspection to talk openly about it. it's almost a strange thing to say, because it's so stigmatized to say that you want to talk about your past traumas, but that's just how it is for me. i like when people ask me about it, because it gives me a chance to verbalize it, make it known, and gives me a moment to reflect on what i've survived.

as for a new setup/background, you could do fairy lights which don't need to be attached to the wall (i arranged them w a bunch of thumbtacks) and can change colors. they look rly aesthetic/minimal/cozy. could also put a coffee table like you mentioned with some of your plushies on it, or even plants or other simple decorations if you want a different look. posters and wall tapestries can be rly cheap to get and beautiful (i have a starry night tapestry for instance). lastly, as for the window you could get a lil curtain if you want to show it. oh also- could get a little LED color changing lamp if you want to change the color and vibe of the area.
