Judas was the first rotten apple and the years thereafter have produced rotten apples. It’s inevitable when you have human beings involved, you will have some rotten apples. Luther was probably right that something was going wrong. He should have gone through the proper channels to try to correct it, hung in there. Instead he threw out the baby with the bathwater.

Some other good books for you: Infiltration by Taylor Marshall - will help you understand what is going on in the Church and at the same time give you hope. History of Christendom (5 books) by Warren Carrol - shows God working through history. Eucharistic Miracles - by Joan Carroll Cruz - really strengthens the faith. God bless

I have become so unsettled hearing so many video speak of Pope Francis like he is a bad pope and that comes with the territory. But I realized the other day I have absolutely nothing to base my reaction on. So just yesterday I started reading his encyclicals, and will also read some of his more critical exhortations. To stick with the boat analogy, everyone is in the hull telling me how the captain is bringing us toward disaster, but I never bothered to go up and take a look!

No one should join the Church because of any Pope. They are men. Sinful and broken as all of us are. I came into the Church in 2020 - after the Pachamama scandal and simply had to look past the awful - basically apostate actions of many of the highest leaders in the Church - and I have no doubts - this is Jesus' Church - and I soon found the beauty of traditional Catholicism (what was simply called Catholicism until 1970) and have been so blessed - and am so thankful to the Lord for His mercy in drawing me into His beautiful Church.

I was on a tragedy at sea, many years ago. I was a rookie merchant seaman. There were multiple safety flaws and the captain abandoned ship, I saw it with the same two eyes I'm typing this with. But my maritime career didn't end there. Vessels can be refitted and I met far better officers than that captain. The event didn't shatter my love for a life at sea. This that I just wrote is the truth. The ship was called the Scandinavian Star and it went on fire on April 7th 1990. I'm 56 now and I still remember it every day. I was diagnosed with PTSD, it ruined my life multiple times. Now, I use this tragic event in my past life as way to cope with what's happening with our beloved Mother Church. I don't like our Captain. But our ship, the Church, has a shipowner called Jesus Christ. The moment I stop believing that His vessel lost seaworthiness, then...what am I doing here ? What will my purpose in life be ? We have to believe. Christ is King, Priest and Commander. He knows what he's doing. Sorry for the long post, of course I may seeing all of it the wrong way, please excuse my childish approach to Faith. I'm just poor and ignorant. Canon law clearly states that the First See is judged by no one. Doctors and saints of the Church like Cardinal Bellarmine can have their private opinions but they do not have authority over the Supreme Pontiff. Pastor Aeternus promulgated at Vatican I has made all their opinions outdated. A Catholic who is not in communion with the Holy Father is a schismatic.

To a more practical point when Orthobruhs try to convert Catholics: You're literally promoting schism and apostasy. First, it is no different than piecemealing my faith, as protestants do. Choosing what I believe or where I worship based on preferences and sensibilities rather than on what is true. Second, you are encouraging someone to reject Communion with part, or most, of the Church. Rome recognizes a form of communion with most every Eastern Church, and even, in some senses, with other ecclesial communities. To come into Rome isn't to reject Communion with part of the Church, but to be in Communion with Rome and all who She considers to be in Communion with. But to go to the East is to risk falling out of Communion with Rome and all who claim Communion with Her as many Churches in the East do not see themselves as in any sort of Communion with the Bishop of Rome and, ipso facto, not in Communion with the bishops who are in Communion with Rome. Doing this is undeniably schismatic and, being actively engaged in schism, heretical and condemnable, only redeemable through renunciation, return, and repentance. Simply, even if you think the West has some things wrong, a Catholic isn't simply embracing Communion with the East when they become Orthodox, they are rejecting Communion with Rome outright, thereby condemning themselves as active schismatics.

Yess when you stop believing the slander that the secular media loves to throw at him (this was always a thing btw, Matthew 5:11-12) you realize that he is such a humble and wise pope and a great peacemaker, very keen on evangelizing ❤️ I love pope Francis so much and it makes me so sad to see so many people hating on him and slandering him, I'm certain that the vast majority of them don't even know what he really says. You are missing the more fundamental question. Is the Church Francis leads Catholic? Does it have the four marks? Does it have the mark of unity? Are you one in faith with Francis? If you’re not one in faith with your pope your church doesn’t have the mark of unity.

There exist one sense in which leaving the Church because of a prelate would be legitimate. If a given scandal were to actualize an event, that would be incompatible with the divine and infallible foundation of the church, and not just accidentally appear to be so. For instance, in the Assyrian Church of the East, Sulaqa's schism in the 16th century, insofar as I could examine it, seems to invalidate the legitimacy of the entire line it begot, and the reunion with Rome of the 2 other line later on comes to seal the fate of an ecclesial communion that could legitimately exist outside the Roman communion.

Me and many other traditional Catholics, including KZbinrs, are working on a documentary in defense of the Society of Saint Pius X. We will be discussing all of the major issues - What was the Church like before V2, what are the errors of Vatican II, what is the issues with the New Mass, how the Reforms implementations were disastrous, the formation of the Society, why Lefebvre wasn’t excommunicated, etc etc. We felt that because you are very intelligent and well-spoken on these issues, it would be foolish of us not to invite you to work on this documentary with us. You wouldn’t have to show your face or anything, but for example you could talk about the formation of the Society or why Lefebvre wasn’t excommunicated or something like that. A Christian is damned if he doesn’t belong to the church that Christ founded, which is the Roman Catholic Church. “Extra ecclesiam nulla salus” - “outside the church there is no salvation”. The Eastern Orthodox Churches were national segments of the Eastern “wing” of Catholicism that became schismatic in the East-West Schism almost a millennium ago. For most of that time they’ve taught themselves that the Roman Catholic Church introduced error and became schismatic, but that is a falsehood that contradicts historical documents pertaining to the East-West Schism.

I initially found it astounding that someone who correctly believes in the nature of God, trusts in the infallible and innerancy of God's Word, repents on a regular bases and trusts that Jesus is Lord and his savior having suffered on his behalf the just punishment of his sins, is damned because he isn't Catholic. I no longer am astounded. I have realized that Catholics like you have an idol, the Catholic Church which you trust in and worship instead of Christ. Christ's one true and Apostolic Church is all those who believe the Apostolic teachings and the Old Testament and put their faith in Christ as savior. In those facts is the unity Jesus prayed for.
