Filmophone discs can be excessively tricky to transfer. This one took a whole two hours of my time! As you can see it was quite warped. BILLEE LOCKWOOD Vocal, acc. by t / Arthur Lally, bar / p / d. London, c. July, 1931

Ms Lockwood sings beautifully - with echo's of Betty Bolton - and what a lively chorus from Arthur Lally - very enjoyable.

A little over theatrical in her style,which destroys any pathos..This song belongs to AB

Impeccable transfer as always! You've done an awesome job in restoring these difficult Filmophone discs.

Is this some sort of "plastic" 78?
@JonathanHolmesjazzАй бұрын
@@jourwalis-8875 yes. It’s an early thermo-plastic

Cellulose Acetate, like safety film. Fails by leaching out the plasticiser and exuding acetic acid. Shrinks and stiffens, ends up looking like a poppadom.

@@risingchads that’s a very depressing description … but unfortunately correct 😢👍
