The opening few bars of this record are outstandingly modernistic for the time it was recorded. There's also an agressively loud kazoo solo here too!

didn't realize this was from the 20s. thought this was from the late 30s just from the arrangement, this was definitely ahead of it's time

Love this performance. So indicative of the carefree '20s. A rare tune and record. An absolute delight. Thank you!

Certainly played with as much gusto as the Orpheans version but in a startlingly different modernistic arrangement, complete with novelty effects - good fun.

Fabulous! Love the reverb - Wigmore Hall must have had great acoustics. Fun disc!

The time where you had no artificial reverb! You had to rely solely on the halls acoustics!

I saw about 12 years ago that you put out a song by the Keller sisters and brother Lynch. Do you know anything about the family? I'm the great granddaughter of Frank Lynch. If you want to know about this group. I'll be happy to give you a back story about them.

@@susanssoap9602 I did indeed! That was a long time ago. I love their vocals but don’t know a huge amount. Please do drop me an email - it’s on my profile!

Is that a goofus in the back during the kazoo solo ?
@JonathanHolmesjazz
@JonathanHolmesjazz 15 күн бұрын
@@tomconseil1300 no I think it’s some sort of keyboard device but I don’t know what. A goofus was something you blew into like a saxophone

Yes, i think that's a goofus you can hear, though not very well played! A goofus is a keyed instrument (with a piano-style keyboard) that you blow using a mouthpiece & long tube. The modern version (which has the same sound) is the Hohner Melodica.
