Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

Luckily Walter suggested Hank about the poet. Otherwise, he would've been chasing Willy Wonka lmao

Before the toilet scene, everyone was gathered around in the backyard just kicking back and relaxing. Everything seemed fine. It almost felt like the end of Breaking Bad with a happy ending. You couldn't help but think: "Wow, after everything Walt had been through, he finally pulled everything off. He reached his goal and is able to support his family his way." But Breaking Bad is about drama, so it would, of course, be short lived...

Well, Skyler was letting the situation get the best of her. She was acting up and displaying signs of troubling behaviour, that surely would've made people question the situation. Like, walking into the cold temperature pool in the back garden. When Hank came to her for support with Marie, she started to flip and had a tantrum. Getting caught with having an affair with Ted. Hank definitely knew something wasn't right between WW and Skyler. The day Hank finds the book in the bathroom was when the family were celebrating Walt's birthday a day after! In the end it wasn't the million dollars of cash, or the heft price tagged purchases nor the acquisition of the car-wash that got Hiesenberg found out... It was a quote written on a book! That was in a location which is totally non-relational; a toilet!

@@originalunoriginal4055 Even had they not shown the quote, leaving it like a Hitchcock-like "MacGuffin", with something unknown to us but known to the principal characters written inside the book it would have been a very interesting.connection.

Gale was a weird, but interesting character. He was a criminal, but he wasn't violent or psychotic and he didn't want to hurt anyone. He took pride in his work, but didn't hold grudges. He was just doing what he loved. Unfortunately, he got paired up with Walter White and thus, his fate was sealed.
@bieltann9058

He was a pure scientist. He didn't care about the ethics or morality of what he was doing. That to him was inconsequential. Instead the chemistry, the science, the process was the true joy in his life. It didn't matter if it was the perfect meth or the perfect coffee. The only thing that mattered was scientific purity.

@@billyconnolli8224 Thank you for saying this. This is what the audience should be thinking about Gale, Werner, Gus, Mike and Saul. What I saw is that the fans always blame everything on Walt and say that he should’ve keep his head down and be Gus’ subordinate forever so that he wouldn’t “ruin” everything. Walt is a monster. That’s true. But these people I mentioned got into a business themselves and they should know that there’s no honor among thieves. Mike was worshipped as an honorable character who really provides for his family unlike Walt. Even though he’s a mass murderer who’s like a loyal dog to Gus and he made money by facilitating drug business that ruined thousand lives. Gus was hailed as an efficient businessman but he’s still a villain so I’m not angry that Walt and Jesse burned his lab down. Werner and Gale, they were too naive for the business but they chose this path themselves so they got the consequences. Saul. This guy had so many opportunity to leave the business for good but his greedy ass and his sense of Slippin’ Jimmy are what ruined him. All of these characters should be viewed as evil people. They created their own self-destruction. Walt just speeds the process.

@@billyconnolli8224 What I'm saying is that the question of "good" or "bad" doesn't mean the same thing to Gale as it does with most people. He doesn't think in terms of being "decent". He views life through the frame of scientific achievement.

I didn't. I have to admit it was nice to finally see Hank get killed. Hank caused way too much trouble for Walter all throughout the series and he would never give up even when his supervisors told him to. I also really hated how Hank went after Mike relentlessly as well, confiscated his money, and forced him to go on the run which led to his death.

I've seen the interview with the show's director, Vince Gilligan, when he had Giancarlo Esposito practice the hospital bomb explosion scene for a month to nail that moment as they only had one take. This was because they had to detonate a real bomb in front of him to keep the feeling of Gus Fring's death as authentic and as epic as possible. Bravo Vince, you outdid yourself once again!

this is literally not true, the bomb explosion scene took like 18 takes in the behind the scenes footage. Vince was like "Yeah usually a scene takes 1, 2 takes, 3 is good, 4 is okay, once you get to like 5 and over you know something isn't working right" in his southern accent.

I find this to be one of two flaws in the story. Why would Walter keep an autographed book connecting him to Gale? The second flaw was Gus writing down all of the bank accounts on the back of the photo on his desk. I mean Gus had money drops in random desert holes but goes and writes down the corporate accounts?!?

Think of it like a doomsday device, a "bomb" that would go off in the event of Gus's death. The numbers wouldn't have been found for any other reason, and in the event his office would be searched by police for any reason he'd have the resources to get the photo out and other evidence out of the office beforehand. For the book I'd assume it boils down to Walt's ego, he probably considers the events with Gale monumental to his "career" as kingpin and wanted to keep the book to remember him by..

Just imagine this: Walter happens to have his copy of Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass” with him during the scene where he’s talking about it it with Hank. Instead of using Hank’s documents to show him the poem quote, Walt makes the mistake of showing Hank his copy, with Gale’s message to him in it. Hank finds out that Walter is Heisenberg while he’s sitting right next to him. Totally unrealistic, but cool to think about how that scene would’ve been.
