im doing this before my mocks, for the prove of induction in question 7 (d), step 3 where you let n = k+1 where did the k*2 come from on the lhs, its in the marking scheme as well but I just don't get it, is it not just to sub (k+1)*2 instead of k*2, why is there an extra k*2 before it???

K^2 is the term before (k+1)^2, it will always be there and we need to have it in order to simplify down the lhs

for part (d) on the proof by induction in step 3 would it be ok to multiply everything out instead of leaving all in bracket form

Technically yes but it is not recommended. It would likely take longer and provide opportunities to make mistakes. You would have to multiply out both sides and then put them in the same form so it would take more time and space in my opinion.

They need to have the same denominator in order to add fractions.
