Surprise!! We’re packing up and leaving the Dominican Republic (but only temporarily). We got invited to the other side of the world but haven’t had much time to plan.

We encounter lots of travel problems along the way including issues with visas and getting checked into our flight.

The DR is one of my favorite places to go, my wife is Dominican and we have a lot of family scattered around the island and we have our house in Santo Domingo rented out since we acquired it in 2015. We have been here the last 2 weeks and leave tomorrow to go back home to the US. We hate to leave but this was a test to make sure we can run our business from here, so far so good!!! Our plan within the next few years is to move here for 6mo at a time and eventually full time. The DR is cheap to live, especially if you get away from the heavier tourist areas and have family or friends that can get you the DR prices on property and things as opppsed to the American prices if they hear you speak English or Spanish without a DR accent.... We loved watching your videos stay safe and hope you make it back to the DR soon, we will be back in a few months and maybe we can catch up with you guys in person.

We absolutely love Vietnam and can't wait to get back! We had hoped to spend the last two winters in Vietnam, but alas, that wasn't possible. Forms are the pits! They did my head in recently travelling to the UK and Singapore. So much so, that l have cancelled my next trip. Just to old to deal with so many. I'm not surprised at all that you made it through the airport. Normally in DR they only care about what's your next destination, not the final destination, or at least that was what I had to deal with when I went back home to Sweden this fall and had to go through Germany. At that time you had to get a PCR test to enter Germany, but not if you were only transiting to your final destination. I tried to explained that to the airport staff, and they didn't care, as I was going to Germany I was required a PCR test. And obviously when I came to Germany, when they noticed that I was only going to transit, they didn't even want to see the PCR test result. So that's life. Nice editing by the way, from the apartment to the airport the editing is backwards. You passed through the entrance of Maranatha (4:09) and then you went passed the road after Playero crossing and then the airport, in reality it's the other way around, Maranatha is closer to the airport. Just a detail I found funny as I pass by that entrance almost every day. And yes, for now, the migration policy is that you can pay the "fee" when leaving and then come back whenever you want and basically stay how long you want. However, and this is something that has been advertised for years, they want to change that, as it doesn't make any sense to pay residency which costs more or less $2000 for the initial year and then at least $500 each year to renew, when you can just pay like $100 to stay one year and then leave. So that's just a heads up, wouldn't surprise me if they changed it, wouldn't surprised me if they don't change it.

After seeing your video I went to travel websites trying to figure the best route to get from the Dominican Republic to Vietnam. I got tired just thinking of those long flights and layovers. If you change planes in Miami I suspect you will travel via Doha or Dubai and then after a long layover on to Vietnam. I look forward to your next video to see if you actually flew that route or had 2-3 stopovers to save money.

Glad you got on the flight. we flew out of punta cana sunday night and saw about 8 people board a flight to germany wearing complete hazemat suits. did you see anyone like that on any of your flights to vietnam

No we've not seen anything like that on our flights and connecting through airports... that sounds like a little much but to each their own 🤷🏻 - Trevor
