Nicolas Cage doesn't eat in this entire movie as some career alcoholics adapt to getting their caloric intake from drinking or can't stomach much food. Amazing little detail and amazing movie that helped me reassess my relationship with alcohol.

I've decided that Nicholas Cage is my favorite actor. A lot of folks have issues with the roles he chooses, yet just about all of those "critics" have a film he's done that they love. I’ve had trouble with alcohol in the past, I love this movie it’s harsh but beautiful in the same respect, all I can say is I’ve not drawn for 30 years and I attempted Elizabeth shue wasn’t great but I was happy that I done it eventually and it wasn’t terrible. Never give up x

A very very small detail to notice in this movie is that Ben literally never eats in the entire film. He plays with food, he sits at two dinner tables, but he never actually eats food. I have no clue if this was done on purpose or a crazy coincidence, but an alcoholic at this stage probably couldn't stomach food. I was a severe alcoholic in my past and I cannot stress how many times I'd forgo food entirely because I knew it would soak up any bit of precious booze that would soon hit my stomach... I mean, I'd order good take out meals with friends and we'd all drink and they'd hit their boxes of food after getting a good buzz and I'd sit there not eating, we'd all pass out and I'd still have my box of food in the morning all stale because I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't get enough hard liquor.

I don't normally comment but I need to just vent. I need a Sera in my life, even if it's just for a weekend. I'm 30 and been disabled my whole life, in a wheelchair and I can't control my left hand. I'm just tired of everything, I'm tired of the chair, the special equipment, the help, and everything else. So instead of drinking myself to death, I'd love just a weekend with a girl just to let me vent and honestly maybe cry and then I could just shoot myself with a final good memory. Hell maybe not even a weekend because I absolutely would feel bad about needing help. I don't expect a response but if anyone reads this, I hope you have a wonderful day
