I’d hazard a guess that most of the parts on that defender were not made in England. It’s been fun watching it’s evolution. When the Land Rovers used to roll off British production lines they were very accurate and well made, most of the myth comes from what was done to them after, by back yard mechanics.
@AJB17 ай бұрын
@@garyetheridge7497 Don't get me wrong, I love Land Rovers. Learnt to drive in a knackered old Series 3. Probably back in the days of Series 2s they were accurate and well made, but I think quality gradually dropped from then on. I've never heard anyone say that a British built Land Rover was accurate and well made before, especially for later models.
@garyetheridge74977 ай бұрын
@AJB1 Agree, like all good quality things, eventually the companies try to save money and cut corners. I was impressed with the work done on their Landy in SA, the body work and metal smithing was brilliant. I’ve spent the best pet of five years restoring a Series IIA that was driven from Washington State down to Cape Horn Argentina. Some of the old parts are still in great condition and also made to be restored. We could learn a lot from that mentality in a consumption minded world of today.
