Thanks for sharing your story. I was an agnostic then total atheist until about 24-25 When I had a series of spiritual experiences that brought me to Christ (32 now). I'll be honest, I grew up looking down on Christian School and Home school kids and I definitely see flaws in the 90's Christian culture we had in the U.S. I certainly wouldn't classify myself as a progressive Christian, I do believe sin spelled out in the bible is sin, but I also really see hypocrisy in fundamentalism and therefore don't like that either. The deconstruction movement interests me because it is evidence of a major failure in raising the next generation of Christians. Now I have a child of my own and am trying to find a balance of teaching them about God and how to be in the world but not of it. Curious if you and your husband have or plan to have children and how you will raise them regarding spirituality. P.S. I'm glad you are no longer a single issue voter even though I disagree with you on abortion and think life begins at conception. Most importantly I want people to think for themselves and not simply be told what to do.

Thank you for your thoughtful response and sharing your perspective! Me and my husband don’t plan on having kids and honestly I’m not at all sure what we would do in regards to spirituality. I would like to teach them about Jesus and love but I would not want to control them at all and let them come organically to whatever belief they choose. It’s a tough position to be in but I’m so glad your thinking about it and not just shoving fundamentalism down your child’s throat
