There is this one woman in my neighborhood who is anorexic, and she would used to work out an hour a day running on the treadmill. She is skinny to the point where bones are showing. One day, she got banned from the gym by the owners because they were concerned for her condition and didn’t want her to be affiliated with them. I thought that they made the right call for her sake. She’s recovering now, but still has a long way to go.

Renegade Rants - I found myself doing the same thing after my mom passed away. I started slow and exercised for only 45min's but a yr later I was exercising 5hrs a day. Anytime I felt a little stress come on or if I woke up from nightmares (because I watched mom die so I would dream of her dying) I would go and exercise. Quite a few times I would get home from exercising only to go back out 30min's later. Once I started seeing a therapist and facing all the trauma I dealt with since I was 11yrs old, I am back to 45min's a day.

She didn't say it was any partner of the mom's. It could have been a neighbor or a relative. My mother was sexually abused from age 3 by her paternal grandfather, and after that by her two older brothers, It went on for years until my mother met my father when she was 15 and she confided in him. But her mother never knew. She was a naive religious woman and it would never have occurred to her or the father. And in those days such things weren't talked about. My grandmother died at age 77 having never known........my mother never told us, her adult daughters either, it was my dad who told me the whole story after my mother had died of cancer at age 57.

@@mrs.hatfield1451 I am very sorry to hear that. I would never forgive. Years ago one of my daughters became a single mother at 17. She had an 18 year old bf and they were planning to get married. I was at my grand daughter's birth and helped raise her for the first year. Then she and her bf broke up, long story but she ended up in Australia. married 3 times and had 4 more kids. When my grand daughter was 11 she told her mother that the stepfather had been molesting her......her mother didn't believe her, called her a liar and a trouble maker and arranged for her to fly back to NZ to live with my other daughter and her two sons. This poor traumatized girl........Six months later the stepfather was arrested and went to prison as other girls in the extended family had also reported him. I was so furious at my daughter for treating her child like that that I never spoke to her again. That was 28 years ago and I will NEVER forgive her. Some things just are unforgivable.

Forgiveness doe not condone, it allows you to not be overcome and overwhelmed by the offense against you. She is dying , losing her life , and I'm willing to bet whomever abused her is living it up somewhere just fine, thereforehe is doing herself and injustice by not forgiving the offense and moving on with a healthy life.

Like many things we all do, it can become an addiction. I started working out in a gym after I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I started out swimming which led to treadmills, and then I worked out on all the different exercise machines in the gym. I went from 1 to 2 hours of working out a day, 3 days a week, to 4 to 5 hours of working out 5 days a week. The pain I had was incredible from Fibromyalgia, and I worked through the pain because this was my way to feel I was strong and not a weak person with this illness. Working out was the best stress release for me when bad was happening around me. I started to become addicted to working out. I started getting nodules on my hands from holding on to the bars in the gym. As the old saying goes, "Do things in moderation is true. Anything can trigger an addiction for you to have. It's been many years since I've been to a gym because I have a gym in my home. Sadly, I have osteoarthritis in my joints with fibromyalgia, and nowadays, I can hardly work out at all. It was my coping mechanism to feel as normal as can be. It didn't work out that way in the end. When you find yourself doing something that takes up most of your time, and it's all you think about, then it's an addiction.

Most of us lazy slobs in the comments are way healthier than her. She sleeps less than two and a half hours. An average adult should sleep 7-8 hours per night. Sleeping is also when the body recovers from physical exhaustion like exercise and regenerates muscle tissue. She has no way to recover and thus she is deteriorating her own body at a alarming rate. Also she should consume an insane amount of calories in order to have enough nutrition to cover the burnt calories and regenerate muscle tissue. Do not admire her. She is sick and desperately needs help. This kind of lifestyle is very unhealthy just like being extremely overweight except her body most likely deteriorates faster. I hope that she is getting help and is recovering from both the physical and mental trauma.

+David San If top athletes would sleep this amount they would be severely under performing as their bodies would be deteriorating. Even they do not train as much as her. I am not trying to bad mouth her, but am just saying that people should not admire self destructive behavior caused by sexual abuse as a child. Her health is in danger and I hope that she is getting all the help she needs.

I think someone should help her to get out of this addiction. Someone from her family or friends should help her to realize that she is safe now and they are there to help her. Only compassion and care can help her to come out of this trauma. Society, neighbours, friends, family everybody should come together to help people who are in trauma. We as a human being has a sole responsibility to make this world a better place to live. She should try to indulge herself in some social work. This will help her to heal. May God bless her. May all of us live in peace and happiness.

sexual abuse has so many horrifying ramifications in your life - I have been through this - at least she made the connection - I pray she found some healing. Molesters are human monsters and so many of them are never prosecuted for their crimes. Mothers, watch your daughters .... I wonder who I could have become if I hadn't been through what I went through.

Instead of drugs which many people choose to get over their trauma. But this path she chose has taken a drastic wrong turn. This is why emotional as well physical strength are both crucial in recovery process.I seriously wish her all the best and im sure ahe will get through this becoz she already has crossed some really difficult milestones
