There is this one woman in my neighborhood who is anorexic, and she would used to work out an hour a day running on the treadmill. She is skinny to the point where bones are showing. One day, she got banned from the gym by the owners because they were concerned for her condition and didn’t want her to be affiliated with them. I thought that they made the right call for her sake. She’s recovering now, but still has a long way to go.

Renegade Rants - I found myself doing the same thing after my mom passed away. I started slow and exercised for only 45min's but a yr later I was exercising 5hrs a day. Anytime I felt a little stress come on or if I woke up from nightmares (because I watched mom die so I would dream of her dying) I would go and exercise. Quite a few times I would get home from exercising only to go back out 30min's later. Once I started seeing a therapist and facing all the trauma I dealt with since I was 11yrs old, I am back to 45min's a day.

@@Tenamesan This is 3 months old, but these 2 lifestyles are just atypical. Workers do it for the sake of the job and the money they earn. Applying voluntarily, and continuing the job because they are capable. But for Erin, she excessively exercises in hopes to erase traumatic events in her mind by achieving a 'rush'. She was escaping trauma. Although exercise is a way to meditate your body and mind, Erin was doing it to a point where it was further deterring her physical and mental health.

No not humorous, but she needs extreme therapy, and she needs to learn the art of forgiving who harmed her. Forgiveness doe not condone, it allows you to not be overcome and overwhelmed by the offense against you. She is dying , losing her life , and I'm willing to bet whomever abused her is living it up somewhere just fine, thereforehe is doing herself and injustice by not forgiving the offense and moving on with a healthy life.

She didn't say it was any partner of the mom's. It could have been a neighbor or a relative. My mother was sexually abused from age 3 by her paternal grandfather, and after that by her two older brothers, It went on for years until my mother met my father when she was 15 and she confided in him. But her mother never knew. She was a naive religious woman and it would never have occurred to her or the father. And in those days such things weren't talked about. My grandmother died at age 77 having never known........my mother never told us, her adult daughters either, it was my dad who told me the whole story after my mother had died of cancer at age 57.

@@mrs.hatfield1451 I am very sorry to hear that. I would never forgive. Years ago one of my daughters became a single mother at 17. She had an 18 year old bf and they were planning to get married. I was at my grand daughter's birth and helped raise her for the first year. Then she and her bf broke up, long story but she ended up in Australia. married 3 times and had 4 more kids. When my grand daughter was 11 she told her mother that the stepfather had been molesting her......her mother didn't believe her, called her a liar and a trouble maker and arranged for her to fly back to NZ to live with my other daughter and her two sons. This poor traumatized girl........Six months later the stepfather was arrested and went to prison as other girls in the extended family had also reported him. I was so furious at my daughter for treating her child like that that I never spoke to her again. That was 28 years ago and I will NEVER forgive her. Some things just are unforgivable.

@@juanitarichards1074 I understand. I am married and 34 with 4 kids and I still am confused and hurt. God has mended a lot of my pain. I was accused of being a brat and liar and all this and that. I acted out cause I was 12. I wound up in and out of juvenile detention and then got sent up for a year. Best time I ever did! I got on track and picked up the pieces. Like many things we all do, it can become an addiction. I started working out in a gym after I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I started out swimming which led to treadmills, and then I worked out on all the different exercise machines in the gym. I went from 1 to 2 hours of working out a day, 3 days a week, to 4 to 5 hours of working out 5 days a week. The pain I had was incredible from Fibromyalgia, and I worked through the pain because this was my way to feel I was strong and not a weak person with this illness. Working out was the best stress release for me when bad was happening around me. I started to become addicted to working out. I started getting nodules on my hands from holding on to the bars in the gym. As the old saying goes, "Do things in moderation is true. Anything can trigger an addiction for you to have. It's been many years since I've been to a gym because I have a gym in my home. Sadly, I have osteoarthritis in my joints with fibromyalgia, and nowadays, I can hardly work out at all. It was my coping mechanism to feel as normal as can be. It didn't work out that way in the end. When you find yourself doing something that takes up most of your time, and it's all you think about, then it's an addiction.

I've suffered from a serious exercise addiction since I was 15 years old. I'm now 34 and I'm still a slave to it. It was really bad when I was 16. I exercised for exactly 18 hours a day.... everyday. In the first few months it was new and exciting, however it grew to be a chore. I came up with my own name for it "exercise bulimia".

Soham Makwana doesn't really change anything. I was the same. Eating 3000 calories per day, but if you're running for that long and burn it immediately, you're body won't get any nutrients out of it. It's basically like you didn't eat anything at all. Except that you just regain enough energy to use it to run again. It's difficult to break from that cycle for sure.

At least the mom believes her! My step dad started molesting me as soon as I hit puberty (it sickens me to even write this) after my older sister was taken out of our home and given custody to the state after making allegations (which I knew was true!) about him, which MY MOM told me to tell the investigator that my sis is a liar...(I was 12) after she was taken out, he turned his sights on me. my mom didn't believe me, bc he told her so many lies to cover up his actions. I cannot go into detail what he did for obvious reasons. still to this day she doesn't believe me (I'm almost 35) and is still married to that piece of shit to this day. I had problems with drugs for a lot of years off and on and ended up going to rehab. from there they sent me to a therapist, who told me that the statute of limitations never ran out for this type of crime, and did I want to press charges? As an adult? I thought about it for 2 weeks. I went back and told her no. I still love my mom and didn't want to see her life ruined even though she let someone else ruin mine.(She's pretty dependant on the money he brings in.) it may sound terrible but I'm just waiting for him to kick the bucket (he's 14 yrs older than my mom!) so I can finally have a relationship with my mom without his creepy old man ass around. I am fearful when they visit, I have 4 beautiful daughters, 3 of which have hit puberty... he is also an elder in his church, I can't believe it...

Coming from a competitive gymnast who was also in the gym 3 hours a night after school and from 9-5 daily during summers, that’s what the sport taught us. Push through the pain, go go go - then go again. It becomes an addiction. For me I was addicted at age 7. Hands ripped open and bleeding? Don’t care. Body trembling and crying? Hold it longer. I used to train, then come home at 9:30pm on school nights and condition for another hour. I didn’t go through the abuse she did, God heal her soul, my story is much different in terms of life challenges although they were tough, but that’s truly the nature of the sport. Our coaches made us wake up at 4 or 5am Before meets and eat giant bowls of pasta for breakfast so that we had enough carbs to burn. Not too healthy.... You beast through broken bones and sprained muscles. I’ve competed with more injuries than I can count. I recall a particular girl who was very strong but not flexible and her lack of flexibility was holding her back. The coaches used to sit on her shoulders and force her into the spilts as she screamed and cried, for example.
