Apparently the authorities in Bali are thinking of banning foreigners from hiring motorcycles, and scooters, due to the fact many tourists aren't wearing helmets, speed and wear open shirts when riding, of there might be leeway for motorcycle license holders.

Great video and glad you're back to full strength, the food does look stunning and very healthy. Another awesome video From you both, the scenery is breathtaking the roads look very good too not a pothole to be seen!!! I think the beeb should give you and Monica your own travel show.
@FreddieDobbs Жыл бұрын
Very well observed- I’d never even considered this and you’re spot on- there are almost no road signs, no speed signs- nothing at all. It’d be close to impossible to navigate without satnav, and I genuinely have no idea what any speed limits are here😆
@faisalarh Жыл бұрын
@@FreddieDobbs when travelling in the city the established speed limits are 50 kph (or stated otherwise on the speed limit sign), when in and around a village/settlement the speed limits are 30 kph (or stated other wise). And when going out between the city/regency, the speed limits are up to 80 kph (unless stated otherwise), because all over Indonesia, only in Bali there's a toll road available for motorcycle, with protected lanes separate from four wheelers and up.

Greetings from down under. Thanks for taking us along Freddie and Monika. Visiting Bali in the 70,s and 80,s last century was a vastly different experience. My budget was $1aud per day including accomodation in a homestay losmen. That included breakfast of a bowl of bananas and a thermos of hot sweet tea. Glad you're better. Get a Kindle and read novels, Freddie. Start with mine 😀. I'm surprised anyone buys bike magazines anymore. When I was in Tokyo in the early '90s, I subscribed to BIKE. It was the highlight of my month when it arrived. Apart from the nights out in Roppongi. 13:07 Aerox alert. Yamaha Aerox 155: my scooter in Thailand. The scenery is not so different from northern Thailand. For example, 18:53 could easily be less than a kilometre from where we live, just north of Chiang Rai City. The rice fields, the palms trees, the mountains in the distance.

Amazon are you watching.. One thing has struck me is that since 1976 I have never not owned a motorcycle commuter from c50/70/90 yamaha t80 (shaft drive… yes) 125cc and commuter all year round. An now 64 and only had one crash in ice. Hi Freddie and Monika, I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching your video. Since you travel a lot, let me recommend a very simple but important “first aid” to keep in mind. At any given time when you have to endure stomach upset, whether a 24 hour stomach flu or unduly food that you think you might have eaten, the best medicine to have is either to drink sprite or seven up until your stomach settles. And if you have altitude sickness in case you hit the Andes or some high altitude places, drink Gatorade or some drink that will help your electrolytes. These two drinks will work like magic. Although, maybe someday you might want to go on a bike ride on the Hawaiian islands, I hope to see you on Waikiki where I live. Continue your journey and always be safe.🏄♂️🏄♀️🏄

Interesting guy's as I sit here with the snow melting outside sipping my caramel latte watching this I am thinking that I would not really want to go there .This surprises me a little because I had thought that Bali would be like a paradise kind of place but it really isn't , wet damp humid and I am guessing with all that standing water a lot of mosquitos and other nasties and to my complete surprise the food does not appeal from what you have shown .Sorry to hear you have been ill Freddie this was also a surprise since you are both vegetarians /vegans ,but I guess even non meat eaters can get food poisoning😁 . My wife ha it in Spain once and it was not nice at all it took a good few days out of the holiday .Great watch though guys well done 😉👌👍

Bali definitely isn’t for everyone. It’s strangely un-relaxing, because there are no proper pavements, it’s relentlessly humid, the roads have no real rules… and I could go on and on😆 I totally understand why some would not like it at all🙂

the nmax Is so popular there wow

It’s the first bike I’ve seen that’s genuinely challenging Honda for the small capacity title. The Nmax seems to be the bike to have!

Got sick in Bali / lombok myself, I like meat but would probably go veggie out there, also super careful on the hygiene where you choose to eat, getting sick can really ruin the experience - which is special

I enjoy watching these videos from Bali, but also i like to hear your speech and the perfect accent 🙃🙃 You emphasize and use so many different ajectives when describing the area, views, food, i think my English gets better 🙌

Awesome Bali vlogs.. Hopefully one day you'll visit Boracay Island, Philippines. I would like to meet a fellow classic motorcycle enthusiasts.

Thx 🙏🏻 kept your word & gave us some other impressions of Bali. Go further & bit deeper in the countryside, have a look at the Batur and some other mountain area, stay overnight, it’s worth it ❤ ride & eat safe 😂 👍🏻

I definitely will do- Batur looks very moody!

A memory lane trip, lived in Brunei during the 90’s n went to Bali twice. First was Kuta and yep the street vendors drive you nuts, one Aussie tourist brought Main Street to a standstill with a “won’t you just fu@£ off”… Next trip was Ubud way just like where you were, tranquil. Liking your vlog sound tracks 😎

Really enjoy your guys videos, really nicely done. BTW. Random note (apologies if duplicate): I see Bali is planning to ban foreign tourists from using motorbikes, according to one UK news site, at any rate. Keep up the good work!

I really believe this’ll decimate the tourism sector- if it’s acted upon (which it looks like it will be!😳)

Question - so why stay in the centre when you could stay in the countryside? Brilliant series btw!
@FreddieDobbs Жыл бұрын
The incredible selection of cafes and restaurants is a big reason for us to pick the busy areas. It was a toss up between the natural beauty of these traditional areas, and the convenience of the touristy areas🙂

You saying about the currency made me remember doing some work out in Guinea West Africa. A trip to the supermarket involved a carrier bag of cash. They had one check out person to count the money and another to do the check out, it was surreal.
