'I dont care' he said, showcasing the most care possible with his voice.

This song is a scream of apathy and it’s the most beautiful thing ever - the repetition of the words “I don’t care” also really show how much he does care

Saw his final performance of the original revival at Studio 54. To this day it remains the single most mesmerizing performance I have EVER seen. I couldn’t take my eyes off him the entire show. Incredible experience, his talent is beyond extraordinary.

This man and the entire Cabaret recording kept me here when I was a young queer kid. My life was fucked up, but I had my Cabaret cast recording. That was enough. Auditioning for this musical tonight. My favorite role.

The thing people don’t realize is that the characters were supposed to be bad performers. And the EMOTION here is almost heartbreaking. I’d rather emotion over pretty. ❤❤❤

I feel like Emcee is free to be a good singer since he's supposed to be charming the audience into a trap. Sally is definitely meant to be mediocre/bad though

The way he desperately reaches out during the “if we touch” and slowly forces himself to retreat his hand during the “I don’t care.” Ugh. The details 2:02

1:54 .. never tell me this man can’t sing .. this is literally the most heartbreaking thing i’ve heard somebody sing before .. he has to say that he doesn’t care if he’s left .. he just has to .. he has no other choice .. but we can’t tell if he had the choice or not if he would ask them to stay or not because he doesn’t have a choice to .. so gutwretchingly heartbreaking and beautiful .. i love him and this song more than words can explain

Ah, dont think so. In the 1993 filmed revival-London UK Donmar(?) Production, the ending he is wearing the inmate pajamas, and in the production, there are 3 emblems on his shirt. Star of David-double yellow trangles-the pink triangle-queer-and the red one is for communist. They decided to drop the comunist one when the show opened on Broadway, because most Americans had no idea what it symbolised and confused the audeince.

I think he's both a character and a representation but not so much of germany and more of the diffrent view points presented through the other characters in the musical.

Hola. Gracias

@maniacmelody6195510 жыл бұрын
The makeup for Emcee includes painted on bruises and scrapes/scratches, like most of the characters who work in the club. I thought they were tattoos but then I remembered the other productions and what the real Cabaret crowd did. They were generally equal rights activists and got caught in or participated in riots and had more than a few bruises. Cabaret performers were also targeted and beat up by people who supported the Nazi party, because they didn't fit in with that kind of crowd. Many Cabaret artists died concentration camps. I suggest you watch the documentary Alan Cumming made of the the real Cabaret of that time, "The Real Cabaret." Plus the other half of being a Cabaret performer can give you bruises/scratches... because those are, um...workplace injuries.
